Book Description
African grassroots theologies and churches are expressions of the faith, spirituality, and praxis of African Christians who seek to articulate and live out their Christian identity and mission in their diverse and complex contexts. These include African Initiated Churches, black theology movements, liberation theology movements, and other forms of contextual and indigenous theologies and ecclesiologies that emerge from the experiences. In exploring the dynamics in African Christianity and theologies, the volume addresses the following questions: How do African grassroots theologies and churches reflect and respond to the challenges and opportunities of their socio‐political, economic, cultural, and religious contexts? How do African grassroots theologies and churches engage with the historical and contemporary expressions of Christianity in Africa and beyond such as colonial and missionary Christianity, ecumenical Christianity, global Christianity, and interreligious dialogue? How do African grassroots theologies and churches develop and communicate their theological and ethical perspectives and practices on issues such as justice, liberation, reconciliation, healing, development, ecology, gender, sexuality, culture, and spirituality? How do African grassroots theologies and churches shape and challenge the forms and functions of the church in Africa such as worship, leadership, ministry, mission, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, and social action This volume is important for those studying African studies, religious studies, African theologies, and African Christianity. This is also an important book for those professionals working in interfaith dialogues, missionary work, and community development within African contexts.

Book Description
Tracking the Jews analyses the beliefs, ideas, concepts, arguments and policies of an unprecedented conversionary initiative during the years immediately before, during and after the Holocaust. From the rubbles of World War I to the ashes of World War II, it reconstructs previously unknown relations between a Protestant framework for global evangelisation of Jews, the network of international bodies that constituted the ecumenical movement of the early twentieth century, and the streams of thought on the Jewish question that flowed through its networking channels. Based on more than twenty thousand pages of archival documents, it forces from the shadows the conversionary issues in which nineteen centuries of negative Church teachings on Jews were rooted, bringing to light a field of transnationally shared beliefs about the place, role and destiny of Jews in world society. It sets into sobering relief the paradoxical ways in which a broad international toleration of traditional anti-Judaism allowed, under a banner of Christian benevolence, a transnational public discourse of antisemitic ideas masked in conversionary language.

Book Description
This pioneering and fascinating book is the first to tell the story of the remarkably enduring bonds between Malawi and Scotland from the time of David Livingstone to the flourishing cultural, economic and religious relationships of the present day. Why should there be any significant relationship between one small nation on Europe's north-western seaboard and another in the interior of Africa? How did it reach the stage where in 2012 Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs in the Scottish Government, could describe Malawi as Scotland's "sister nation"? This book attempts an answer.

Book Description
"The Baptist convention of Malawi (BACOMA) grew out of the Baptist Mission in Malawi's work that began almost 50 years ago as a result of plans by the Central African (Southern Baptist Convention) Mission to expand their works from Zimbabwe to Malawi. Although BACOMA owes much of their tradition to the white Southern Baptists of the US, they are typically a Malawian expression of the Church. In five chapters the author, a long standing Principle of the Baptist Theological Seminary of Malawi, offers a history of the Baptist convention of Malawi. The five themes being: BACOMA's Polygenetic Nature; Evangelistic Zeal and the Development of BACOMA 1970-1989; Women and Youth in Evangelism and the Development of BACOMA; Separation and Cooperation: A "Loose" Partnership and The People."--
