Book Description
Excerpt from The Century Association Year-Book, 1959 Under the aegis of this scholar and gentleman, the Century Library possessed a peculiarly intimate and friendly quality, for he knew where every book stood on the shelves, what it looked like from the outside, and what was in it even to the very page. This made the Library a very pleasant place for many, and we express gratitude, h0ping that our Librarian Emeritus will continue to make use, as he may have need, of the great collection of which he was presiding genius and host for so many years.
