Fallows, the first director, died in July, 1831, and the observations made during his tenure of office will be found in the memoirs of the Royal Astronomical Society, Vol. Xix., which was published in 18 5 1. The Catalogue contains the Right Ascensions of 42 5 Stars and the North Polar Distances of 88. Fallows was succeeded by Mr. Thos. Henderson, who however remained at the Cape but little more than a year, having resigned the appointment in 1833.
