Excerpt from The Book of Worship: Prepared for the Use of the New Church, by Order of the General Convention York Edition, the name lord is used for J ehovah, as in the English Bible; the third, called the Psalter Edition, is like the New York Edition, but contains a fuller collection of Prayers, including the Litany, also the entire book of Psalms, divided into portions for daily morning and evening readings, and arranged to be read in alternate verses. The other editions con tain twenty-one selections from the Psalms, arranged to be read by alternate lines. The first thirteen of these selections may be used for the Morning Service on the thirteen Sundays of each quarter; leaving the next three for occasional Evening Ser vices. The Seventeenth lesson is suitable for Thanksgiving Day, the eighteenth for Christmas, the nineteenth for Good Friday, the twentieth for Easter. The use of the lessons is not limited, however, to this arrangement. Those who prefer to have the reading of the Commandments preceded by a short introductory lesson, will find the following selections useful for that purpose. Thirteen lessons are recom mended, to correspond to the number of Sundays in each quar ter. These may be abbreviated, if shorter lessons are preferred, by omitting some of the verses.
