Book Description
The ARTEMIS mission was initiated by skillfully moving the two outermost Earth-orbiting THEMIS spacecraft into lunar orbit to conduct unprecedented dual spacecraft observations of the lunar environment. ARTEMIS stands for Acceleration, Reconnection, Turbulence and Electrodynamics of the Moon's Interaction with the Sun. Indeed, this volume discusses initial findings related to the Moon’s magnetic and plasma environments and the electrical conductivity of the lunar interior. This work is aimed at researchers and graduate students in both heliophysics and planetary physics. Originally published in Space Science Reviews, Vol. 165/1-4, 2011.

Book Description
This book describes the future of the Artemis Lunar Program from the years 2017 to about 2030. Despite the uncertainty of the times and the present state of space exploration, it is likely that what is presented in this book will actually happen, to one degree or another. As history has taught us, predictions are often difficult, but one can see enough into the future to be somewhat accurate. As the Bible says, “Wesee thru the glass, but darkly.” All of the elements of the proposed program are described from several perspectives: NASA’s, the commercial space industry and our International partners. Also included are descriptions of the many vehicles, habitats, landers, payloads and experiments. The book tells the story of the buildup of a very small space station in a strange new lunar orbit and the descent of payloads and humans, including the first women and next man, to the lunar surface with the intent to evolve a sustained presence over time.

Book Description
When the Apollo 11 astronauts landed on the Moon on July 20, 1969, they made a very important discovery. During their landing on the surface of the Moon, the exhaust gases released from the Lunar Module landing rockets caused large amounts of surface dust to move into the thin lunar atmosphere, causing obscuration of the lunar surface. Once they landed, they found that the surface of the Moon was covered with several inches of very fine, tiny particles composed of sharp, glassy material. The lunar dust stuck to everything it came in contact with, and, once on the lunar surface, the dust eroded their spacesuits, caused overheating on equipment and instrumentation, compromised seals on their spacesuits and on lunar sample collecting boxes, irritated their eyes and lungs, and generally coated everything very efficiently. On the return to Earth in the Apollo Command Module, lunar dust inadvertently brought aboard floated freely in their cabin causing problems. Now, 50 years later, humans will return to the Moon in the Artemis Program, as early as 2024. This book summarizes what we know about lunar dust, its structure and chemical composition, its impact on human health, and how to reduce/mitigate its effects on future human exploration. The four dozen contributors to the 14 chapters in the book are planetary scientists, engineers, mission planners, medical researchers and physicians from NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), as well as universities and industry from the United States, Australia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden.

Book Description
Space scientists' enthusiasm is reaching a fever pitch as NASA's Artemis mission inches closer to returning to the moon. The Space Launch System, or SLS, has been lauded by NASA as the most formidable rocket ever constructed. The 98-meter rocket reached the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida's launch region on Wednesday. The rocket traveled more than 10 hours to traverse the six and a half kilometers to the launch site. The first SLS rocket launch will be named as Artemis 1 by NASA. The initial voyage of the spacecraft will not have any crew members on board. NASA's Orion spacecraft will fly on SLS for a test mission to circle the moon. American astronauts will reach the moon no early than 2025, according to Artemis. Since NASA's Apollo 17 mission in 1972, this would be the first human lunar landing. Roger Muniz, an extreme space enthusiast who has spent more than ten years studying rockets and other fascinating scientific objects, leads you on an educational tour and analysis of the Artemis rocket, educating every astronomer, astrophysicist, star-gazer, constellation enthusiast, and rocket enthusiast about the discovery and addressing the pressing question of how this will change how we view the universe going forward. In this book, you'll discover: What you need to know about the rocket launch The goals of the rocket launch The rocket's operationThe mega-rocket of NASA Facts about Artemis I And so much more! Book Description
Artemis 2, scheduled for launch in September 2025, represents a monumental step in humanity's return to lunar exploration. This mission, part of NASA's ambitious Artemis program, aims to orbit the Moon-a significant advancement since the Apollo era. Unlike its predecessor, Artemis 1, which was an uncrewed test flight, Artemis 2 will carry a crew of astronauts on a 10-day mission, demonstrating NASA's commitment to establishing a sustainable human presence on the Moon. This mission will not only test critical systems but also pave the way for the historic Artemis 3 mission, which plans to land astronauts on the lunar surface. Artemis stands as a beacon of inspiration, demonstrating what humanity can achieve through unity, courage, and an unquenchable thirst for discovery. Embracing diversity in Artemis is more than a commitment; it's a reflection of our evolving understanding of what it means to explore space. It symbolizes a future where exploration and discovery are the realm of all humanity, representing every gender, race, and nationality.
