For example, Reilly says that tracheo-bronchitis and profound syph ilis are the main forms of pulmonary syphilis; the lesions would consist of gumma or localized or diffuse exudative lesions, leading to fibrosis. Arteritis would always accompany these processes. As to the so-called syphilitic phthisis, recent authors as Mor ris and Rossle accept it, the latter giving as a frequent finding a type of pneumonia resembling the syphilitic white pneumonia of the newborn.
