Book Description
Excerpt from The Agricultural Situation, Vol. 31: February 1947 After several war years of wear and tear, much farm machinery, buildings and other equipment are worn out or well past their prime.. Many farmers will want to make re placements as new machines and materials become more readily avail able. But they are now expensive and farmers who want to play safe will buy only what they most need, or what will increase their earnings and can be paid for out of incomes of the next few years. These farm ers will defer other purchases till the future, in the belief that prices will be lower then. The following summaries touch on some of these production problems facing farmers in various regions of the country. They suggest ways to meet them for Northeast and Lake States dairy farmers, Piedmont peanut farmers, Texas cotton farm ers, -corn Belt hog farmers, Great Plains, wheat farmers, ranchers, and others.
