Book Description
Jesus calls each of us to live in a way that gives the Father glory, shares his love with everyone around us, and reflects the life of Jesus. He invites us to scatter seed. Scattering seed can be a challenge, though, especially in our public lives, our professional lives, and volunteer lives. Those of us called to teach in some way feel the challenge deeply. We seek to share knowledge, experiences, and life lessons with a broad and varied group of people and do it in a way that shares Christ's love. Often life, curriculum challenges, and student chemistry threaten to derail our best laid plans. When this happens, it's easy to be distracted from our purpose or even to forget that our life calling is the same as our calling to teach. Scattering Seed in Teaching is about returning to that call, or perhaps connecting with it for the first time. It shares stories, interviews, and observations of teachers and students learning about scattering seed. It connects with biblical reminders and encourages us as teachers to reflect on and remember that underlying our professional call to teach is our life call . . . they are one and the same, to scatter seed.

Book Description
Discovery Teaching Like Jesus critiques the current assumptions, models, and delivery methods of adult religious education. Based on a constructivist theory, it examines the unique ways in which Jesus proclaimed his message to followers and then applies that to current teaching practices in religious settings. It focuses on adult learning theory (andragogy) and transformative learning while applying the discovery teaching methods in adult spiritual formation classes and groups. The authors identify four ways that Jesus implements constructivist methods: he creates teachable moments, he employs powerful narratives, he sparks curiosity, and he makes his listeners think. Using these techniques as a framework, the authors demonstrate how to use these in adult religious education settings. In the final section, the authors offer suggestions for excellence in teaching through recruiting, training, and supporting reflective teachers. Included in this final section are ways that adult facilitators can use self-reflection and examination to enhance their teaching ability.

Book Description
The Radical Teaching of Jesus carefully and thoughtfully invites the reader into an understanding of the life and teachings of Jesus. Both his life and teachings are radical in that Jesus intended those who observed his life and heard his teachings to make a major change in their lives by fully receiving the power and presence of God. The implications of this transformation would result in a life of loving God with heart and mind and one's neighbor without condition. This volume underlines that to have a full understanding of the implications of the radical teaching of Jesus requires a careful reading of the history--of the Gospel records, of the circumstances in which Jesus lived, and of Jesus' sense of vocation. This understanding makes possible a more credible and nuanced grasp of the style and content of the life and teaching of Jesus and its extraordinary relevance for our rapidly changing and troubled global context. The book speaks poignantly both to those within the Christian family who find traditional categories regarding Jesus increasingly difficult to affirm, and to those of other faith traditions or religious unaffiliated who seek an authentic spiritual way.

Jesus' teaching is misrepresented and misunderstood in so many ways on this earth. There are so many people who speak on Christ's behalf when, in actuality, He has explained Himself clearly and understandably. We often go out of our way to read and present His words out of order and context. What did Jesus really teach? What is His message to us here on planet earth? This expository walkthrough of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount was originally taught at The Church at Sunsites in Pearce, AZ. Book Description
