De conception multidisciplinaire, Le traitement des déchets est composé de six parties. La première partie est orientée vers la connaissance des déchets et leur impact. En six chapitres sont abordés : leur caractérisation, la réglementation, le tri et le conditionnement, les déchets inertes, l'évaluation du potentiel polluant et les gaz à effets de serre. La seconde partie est exclusivement consacrée à la valorisation en alimentation animale, filière importante pour la valorisation de la matière organique. La troisième partie concerne les traitements physico-chimiques. Le lecteur y trouvera successivement : les pré-traitements (et traitements) mécano-biologiques, les traitements thermiques, les déchets radioactifs et leurs spécificités technologiques et réglementaire. La quatrième partie est consacrée aux traitements biologiques, à la méthanisation, à l'élimination des déchets non dangereux dans les installations de stockage (récupération du biogaz), et à la capacité "épuratoire" du sol. La cinquième partie aborde les aspects économique, sociétal et politique de la gestion des déchets. Risk analysis is widely recognised as the fundamental methodology underlying the development of food safety standards. As recognised in the 1995 consultation, risk analysis is composed of three separate but integrated elements, namely risk assessment, risk management and risk communication. That consultation recognised risk communication as an interactive process of exchange of information and opinion on risk among risk assessors, risk managers, and other interested parties. Risk management is defined within Codex as the process of weighing policy alternatives in the light of the results of risk assessment and, if required, selecting and implementing appropriate control options, including regulatory measures. The outcome of the risk management process, as undertaken by Committees within the Codex Alimentarius system, is the development of standards, guidelines and other recommendations for food safety, m the national situation it is likely that different risk management decisions could be made according to different criteria and different ranges of risk management options.
