Johann Nickel Schwingel was born in 1698 in Germany. He married Maria Barbara Anschuetz and was a blacksmith. In 1740 he brought his wife and at least three of their four children to America and settled in Pennsylvania. After Maria's death he married Anna Margaretha Haus by whom he had another two sons. Later some of his descendants settled in Maryland. He died in 1786. Information on his descendants and related families is included in this material.
