Book Description
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The incredible true story of survival and salvation that is the basis for two major motion pictures: Unbroken and Unbroken: Path to Redemption. “Extraordinarily moving . . . a powerfully drawn survival epic.”—The Wall Street Journal Hailed as the top nonfiction book of the year by Time magazine • Winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for biography On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared. It was that of a young lieutenant, the plane’s bombardier, who was struggling to a life raft and pulling himself aboard. So began one of the most extraordinary odysseys of the Second World War. The lieutenant’s name was Louis Zamperini. In boyhood, he’d been a cunning and incorrigible delinquent, breaking into houses, brawling, and fleeing his home to ride the rails. As a teenager, he had channeled his defiance into running, discovering a prodigious talent that had carried him to the Berlin Olympics and within sight of the four-minute mile. But when war had come, the athlete had become an airman, embarking on a journey that led to his doomed flight, a tiny raft, and a drift into the unknown. Ahead of Zamperini lay thousands of miles of open ocean, leaping sharks, a foundering raft, thirst and starvation, enemy aircraft, and, beyond, a trial even greater. Driven to the limits of endurance, Zamperini would answer desperation with ingenuity; suffering with hope, resolve, and humor; brutality with rebellion. His fate, whether triumph or tragedy, would be suspended on the fraying wire of his will. Laura Hillenbrand writes with the same rich and vivid narrative voice she displayed in Seabiscuit. Telling an unforgettable story of a man’s journey into extremity, Unbroken is a testament to the resilience of the human mind, body, and spirit.

Book Description
The phrase "The British are coming" is attributed to Paul Revere, a colonial Boston silversmith and patriot who was among several riders who sounded the alarm that the British Regulars were coming to attack the American colonies. On the night of April 18, 1775, Revere and William Dawes set out on horseback from Boston to warn the colonists that the British were planning to march on Concord to seize American military supplies. Revere rode through the countryside, waking sleeping towns and farms, and shouting his famous warning, "The British are coming! The British are coming!" remains an iconic symbol of American rebellion and a war cry to all American citizen soldiers. Citizen Soldiers defend themselves and their homeland against a numerically superior and better-armed invading force or host governments and dictatorships gone crazy. While they might be outgunned in larger battles, Citizen Soldiers can create an advantage over the invaders[ce1] [HM2] in smaller encounters with an intimate knowledge of the countryside, time to prepare defenses, and support from the local population. The most critical mindset for a Citizen Soldier is preparation and relentless awareness of the threats to his homeland. Today’s civilian is tomorrow’s Citizen Soldier[ce3] [HM4] , and you can begin training to learn the necessary skills. From marksmanship to fieldcraft, camouflage, disguise, covert communications, cyber safety, escape routes, navigation, etc., the time to start learning is now. [ce1]We should include both invaders or host governments gone bad so we appeal to the south American countries... maybe round our verbiage to Adversaries / Governments... [HM2]Great point... I added to the text. [ce3]Great BLUF [HM4]Thank you

Book Description
James Leininger was just two years old when he began having disturbing nightmares that would not stop. He screamed out in the night: 'Plane on fire! Little man can't get out!' While nightmares are common among children, what happened next shocked those around him... James began to reveal details of planes and war tragedies that no two-year-old boy could know. His desperate parents were at a loss to help him until he said three things: 'Corsair', 'Natoma' and 'Jack Larsen'. From these tantalising clues, James's parents travelled thousands of miles and spent many long years piecing together these facts to try and find an answer that could end his torment. Finally, despite his mother's fears and his father's staunch Christian beliefs, they found only one possibility to the endless coincidences that surrounded every detail in James's life – that their son was reliving the past life of a World War II fighter pilot. Their touching story is one that will challenge sceptics and confirm the beliefs of those who already believe in life after death.

Book Description
In love we find out who we want to be. In war we find out who we are. FRANCE, 1939 In the quiet village of Carriveau, Vianne Mauriac says goodbye to her husband, Antoine, as he heads for the Front. She doesn't believe that the Nazis will invade France...but invade they do, in droves of marching soldiers, in caravans of trucks and tanks, in planes that fill the skies and drop bombs upon the innocent. When a German captain requisitions Vianne's home, she and her daughter must live with the enemy or lose everything. Without food or money or hope, as danger escalates all around them, she is forced to make one impossible choice after another to keep her family alive. Vianne's sister, Isabelle, is a rebellious eighteen-year-old girl, searching for purpose with all the reckless passion of youth. While thousands of Parisians march into the unknown terrors of war, she meets Gäetan, a partisan who believes the French can fight the Nazis from within France, and she falls in love as only the young can...completely. But when he betrays her, Isabelle joins the Resistance and never looks back, risking her life time and again to save others. With courage, grace and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of WWII and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France--a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Book Description
This book is the first volume of the international relations series "Peace, Security and the World" scheduled to be published before 2025, following the complete works of the "Christianity and the World" series published by the author in 2022.These two series of complete works are a summary of the author's decades of research on international relations. World War III, or WWIII, is the name given to a hypothetical large-scale third World military conflict after World War I and II. Since at least 1941, the expression has been used. Some apply it loosely to limited or minor conflicts, such as the War on Terror or the Cold War. Conversely, others assume that such a conflict would surpass previous world wars in scale and destructive impact. Because of the development of nuclear weapons by the Manhattan Project, which was used in the atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima toward the end of World War II, and several nations’ subsequent acquisition and deployment of them, the risk of a nuclear apocalypse decimating civilization and life on earth is a recurring theme in World War III speculation. Another important fear is that biological warfare might lead to many victims. It can occur purposefully or inadvertently, such as the unintended release of a biological agent, an unforeseen mutation of an agent, or its adaption to other species after usage. These large-scale cataclysmic occurrences, produced by sophisticated destruction technologies, can leave the earth’s surface uninhabitable. The years 1914–1918 of World War I was regarded as “the war to end [all] wars” before World War II in 1939. World War I was commonly referred to as “The Great War” during the interwar period. It was widely believed that a global conflict of this magnitude would never happen again. The outbreak of World War II dashed hopes that humanity had “outgrown” the need for full-scale world wars. In 1945, the Cold War began, and with the spread of nuclear weapons technology in the Soviet Union, the possibility of a Third World conflict became more plausible. During the Cold War years, military and civil authorities in many countries anticipated and planned for the possibility of a Third World War. Scenarios included everything from conventional combat to limited or catastrophic nuclear war. Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) was devised during the Cold War, according to which an all-out nuclear war would destroy all nations involved. The possibility of eradicating humanity may have contributed to American and Soviet leaders’ ability to avoid such a scenario. The most recent major international military conflict, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, has been noted as a potential flashpoint or catalyst for a third world war.
