Book Description
This 183-pages study presents detailed data from a representative sample of 1289 full time college students at four year colleges in the USA, about their interest in a broad range of business education topics. The study presents detailed data sets for interest in each of the following, with specific data for each field or degree: MBA programs, general undergraduate business courses, human resources, international business, management, economics and quantitative analysis, business information technology, finance and accounting, and advertising and market research. Data is broken out by more than 20 institutional and personal variables including but not limited to: income of family of origin, race/ethnicity, religion, gender, regional origins, current employment status, sexual orientation, major field of study, age, year of school standing, type of college, size of college, tuition level of college, and many other variables. The study helps its readers to answer questions such as: which students are most interested in coursework and degrees in particular fields of business study? How interested are these students? How many plan to take undergraduate courses or apply for graduate degrees or MBA's? Which demographic variables define students interested in human resources vs those interested in accounting and finance, for example?Just a few of this report's many findings are that:6.75% of all students interviewed thought it highly likely that they would apply to an MBA program.Men were more than two and a half time likelier than women to plan to apply to an MBA program.More than 17% of students majoring in communications, media or journalism were interested in taking business courses on the undergraduate level.Students of African American and Asian American ancestry showed a much higher level of interest than Caucasian or Hispanic students in studying international business.Interest in studying human resources increased significantly with each year of class standing and many more seniors than first year students were interested in this area of business.

However, due to the disruption of Covid-19, many previously ignored issues relating to MBA programs resurfaced.
