Prompt Photon Production at the Tevatron

Languages : en
Pages : 10
Book Description
Prompt photon production has been studied by the CDF and D0− experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron collider in p{bar p} collisions at the centre of mass energy of (square root)s = 1.96 TeV. Measurements of the inclusive photon, inclusive photon plus jet, photon plus heavy flavor jet, and diphoton production cross sections are discussed. The analyses use data sample corresponding to integrated luminosity between 0.2 fb−1 and 1.02 fb−1. The results are compared to the next to leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD (pQCD) calculations.

Accelerator Physics at the Tevatron Collider
Author: Valery Lebedev
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 1493908855
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 496
Book Description
This book presents the developments in accelerator physics and technology implemented at the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider, the world’s most powerful accelerator for almost twenty years prior to the completion of the Large Hadron Collider. The book covers the history of collider operation and upgrades, novel arrangements of beam optics and methods of orbit control, antiproton production and cooling, beam instabilities and feedback systems, halo collimation, and advanced beam instrumentation. The topics discussed show the complexity and breadth of the issues associated with modern hadron accelerators, while providing a systematic approach needed in the design and construction of next generation colliders. This book is a valuable resource for researchers in high energy physics and can serve as an introduction for students studying the beam physics of colliders.

Pages : 4
Book Description
Prompt photon production results by the CDF and D0 Collaborations in the Tevatron Run II at a center of mass energy of (square root)s = 1.96 TeV are presented. Cross sections for central isolated photons, photon+jet production and photons produced in association with a heavy flavor quark are reported. The measurements are compared to Next-to-Leading order perturbative QCD predictions.

W/Z + Jets Production at the Tevatron {bar P}p Collider

Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 6
Book Description
Both the D0 and CDF experiments at Fermilab Tevatron collider at √s = 1.8TeV have accumulated over 13pb−1 of data during the 1992--1993 collider run. Each experiment collected more than 10,000 W → l + [nu] and 1,000 Z → l + {bar l} candidates for each lepton species (e and [mu]). Using this large data sample of W and Z candidates, the two experiments are actively testing perturbative QCD predictions. Among the studies that are in progress, preliminary results of Z+jets characteristics, multiplicity distributions of associated jets, and a determination of the strong coupling constant using the ratio of the +ljet to W + Ojet cross sections are presented.
