The heavy fermion material, UPt3, exhibits the special property of unconventional superconductivity. The physical properties of UPt3 are known to be anisotropic and extremely sensitive to electron scattering by impurities (foreign atoms) and imperfections (point, line, and planar). To determine the inherent superconducting properties of UPt3, crystals of high quality, both chemically and physically, are needed.
