Stress Analysis on Tee Branches
Failure Analysis Case Studies II
Author: D.R.H. Jones
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080545556
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 455
Book Description
The first book of Failure Analysis Case Studies selected from volumes 1, 2 and 3 of the journal Engineering Failure Analysis was published by Elsevier Science in September 1998. The book has proved to be a sought-after and widely used source of reference material to help people avoid or analyse engineering failures, design and manufacture for greater safety and economy, and assess operating, maintenance and fitness-for-purpose procedures. In the last three years, Engineering Failure Analysis has continued to build on its early success as an essential medium for the publication of failure analysis cases studies and papers on the structure, properties and behaviour of engineering materials as applied to real problems in structures, components and design.Failure Analysis Case Studies II comprises 40 case studies describing the analysis of real engineering failures which have been selected from volumes 4, 5 and 6 of Engineering Failure Analysis. The case studies have been arranged in sections according to the specific type of failure mechanism involved. The failure mechanisms covered are overload, creep, brittle fracture, fatigue, environmental attack, environmentally assisted cracking and bearing failures. The book constitutes a reference set of real failure investigations which should be useful to professionals and students in most branches of engineering.

Piping Engineering
Author: Karan Sotoodeh
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 111985203X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 420
Book Description
Eliminate or reduce unwanted emissions with the piping engineering techniques and strategies contained in this book Piping Engineering: Preventing Fugitive Emission in the Oil and Gas Industry is a practical and comprehensive examination of strategies for the reduction or avoidance of fugitive emissions in the oil and gas industry. The book covers key considerations and calculations for piping and fitting design and selection, maintenance, and troubleshooting to eliminate or reduce emissions, as well as the various components that can allow for or cause them, including piping flange joints. The author explores leak detection and repair (LDAR), a key technique for managing fugitive emissions. He also discusses piping stresses, like principal, displacement, sustained, occasional, and reaction loads, and how to calculate these loads and acceptable limits. Various devices to tighten the bolts for flanges are described, as are essential flange fabrications and installation tolerances. The book also includes: Various methods and calculations for corrosion rate calculation, flange leakage analysis, and different piping load measurements Industry case studies that include calculations, codes, and references Focuses on critical areas related to piping engineering to prevent emission, including material and corrosion, stress analysis, flange joints, and weld joints Coverage of piping material selection for offshore oil and gas and onshore refineries and petrochemical plants Ideal for professionals in the oil and gas industry and mechanical and piping engineers, Piping Engineering: Preventing Fugitive Emission in the Oil and Gas Industry is also a must-read resource for environmental engineers in the public and private sectors.

Stress of Tee Joints by the Finite Element Method
Author:
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en

Book Description
A series of three computer programs for the stress and thermal stress analysis of tee joints to ASA B16.9 is described. Detailed user's guides to the programs are presented, and the results of analyses are compared with experimental measurements obtained elsewhere. An investigation to select the most appropriate finite element for inclusion in the programs is described. The finite element theory, for both stress and transient heat flow analysis, is presented in detail. Listings of input data for sample problems are included. It is concluded that results in good agreement with experiment can be obtained, but that further studies of the effects of mesh refinement remain to be carried out. (auth).
