Der Einfluss und die Möglichkeiten von Storytelling sowie der Einsatz narrativer Methoden in der Unternehmensführung, der Werbung und im Verkauf sind hierbei sehr gut untersucht und kommen als Resultat dessen in diesen Bereichen (vor allem in der Offlinekommunikation) häufig zum Einsatz. Wird hingegen nach Informationen über den Einfluss und die Möglichkeiten von Storytelling im rasant wachsenden Wirtschaftssektor E-Commerce gesucht, so ist mit der vorhandenen Literatur oftmals kein Auslangen zu finden, da diese häufig auf Annahmen, an Stelle von Beweisen und Schlussfolgerungen aus wissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen beruht.Ziel dieser Arbeit war es folglich herauszufinden, ob und unter welchen Voraussetzungen Storytelling auch unter wissenschaftlicher Betrachtung die relevantesten Parameter im E-Commerce beeinflussen kann. Ebenso galt es die Reliabilität des populärsten Projektes zur Erhebung des Einflusses von Storytelling auf die tatsächliche Zahlungsbereitschaft des Konsumenten (dem amerikanischen Significant Objects Project1 von Joshua Glenn und Rob Walker) unter erweiterten wissenschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen zu überprüfen. Dabei enthält der empirische Teil dieser Arbeit sowohl eine Untersuchung des Einflusses von Product Storytelling auf der Versuchsplattform eBay als auch eine qualitative Befragung in Form eines Onlinefragebogens. Die Ergebnisse aus den durchgeführten Tests und Befragungen wurden im Anschluss interpretiert und übersichtlich zusammengefasst. Im Fokus der Untersuchungen stand, ob und in wie weit sich die tatsächliche Zahlungsbereitschaft der Probanden durch den Einsatz von Product Storytelling verändert und welche Parameter zur gezielten Beeinflussung der Konsumenten für den elektronischen Handel identifiziert werden können.*****Storytelling has long been a tool for people to impart information, to create emotions or to entertain the consumer. Especially in recent years storytelling has significantly grown in importance. Experts now speak of a so-called narrative turn. The impact and the possibilities of narrative methods in management, advertising and selling are very well examined especially in the offline communications. As far as e-commerce is concerned, there is hardly any scientific literature, because they are often based on assumptions instead of evidence and conclusions from scientific investigations.The aim of this study was to find out whether and under what conditions storytelling affects the most relevant parameters in e-commerce. Furthermore, it was the reliability of the most popular project about the impact of storytelling on the actual willingness of the consumer to pay for the goods (the American Significant Objects Project 1 by Joshua Glenn and Rob Walker) taking the advanced scientific framework into consideration.
