Book Description
A new solution for steady parallel flow in a rectangular duct is given that is valid for any aspect ratio a/b (where a and b are orthogonal half-widths of the duct), in contrast to older formulas that are restricted to certain ranges of a/b. New solutions for oscillatory flow in rectangular ducts are also given that replace a set of invalid published solutions. They provide calibration constants for relating local and average values of the unsteady velocity flow measurements in any rectangular channel.

Book Description
If done properly, MPD can improve economics for any well being drilled by reducing a rig's nonproductive time. Written for engineers, drilling managers, design departments, and operations personnel, Managed Pressure Drilling Modeling is based on the author's on experience and offers instruction on planning, designing and executing MPD projects. Compact and readable, the book provides a step by step methods for understanding and solve problems involving variables such as backpressure, variable fluid density, fluid rheology, circulating friction, hole geometry and drillstring diameter. All MPD variations are covered, including Constant Bottomhole Pressure, Pressurized MudCap Drilling and Dual Gradient Drilling. Case histories from actual projects are designed and analyzed using proprietary simulation software online.

Book Description
This monograph presents the mechanistic foundations of the theory of Morhodynamics, a discipline that investigates the shape of the erodible boundary of natural water bodies. We focus on the fluvial Morphodynamics of straight erodible channels, providing the basis for subsequent extensions to meandering rivers (treated in the companion monograph 2 of this series) and braided rivers. We present basic notions on the Mechanics of Turbulent Flows and Sediment Transport in straight open channels with mobile beds. We then investigate their morphodynamic equilibrium and its instability, that leads to the formation of a variety of bedforms observed in natural rivers. In particular, fluvial bars will deserve special attention as the fundamental building block of large scale fluvial patterns.

Book Description
foundations of duct acoustics to the acoustic design of duct systems, through practical modeling, optimization and measurement techniques. Discover in-depth analyses of one- and three-dimensional models of sound generation, propagation and radiation, as techniques for assembling acoustic models of duct systems from simpler components are described. Identify the weaknesses of mathematical models in use and improve them by measurement when needed. Cope with challenges in acoustic design, and improve understanding of the underlying physics, by using the tools described. An essential reference for engineers and researchers who work on the acoustics of fluid machinery ductworks.

Book Description
As indicated in Vol. 1, the purpose of this two-volume textbook is to pro vide students of engineering, science and applied mathematics with the spe cific techniques, and the framework to develop skill in using them, that have proven effective in the various branches of computational fluid dy namics Volume 1 describes both fundamental and general techniques that are relevant to all branches of fluid flow. This volume contains specific tech niques applicable to the different categories of engineering flow behaviour, many of which are also appropriate to convective heat transfer. The contents of Vol. 2 are suitable for specialised graduate courses in the engineering computational fluid dynamics (CFD) area and are also aimed at the established research worker or practitioner who has already gained some fundamental CFD background. It is assumed that the reader is famil iar with the contents of Vol. 1. The contents of Vol. 2 are arranged in the following way: Chapter 11 de velops and discusses the equations governing fluid flow and introduces the simpler flow categories for which specific computational techniques are considered in Chaps. 14-18. Most practical problems involve computational domain boundaries that do not conveniently coincide with coordinate lines. Consequently, in Chap. 12 the governing equations are expressed in generalised curvilinear coordinates for use in arbitrary computational domains. The corresponding problem of generating an interior grid is considered in Chap. 13.
