Book Description
This unique book presents a four-year longitudinal study of the literacy development of children attending an Austin, Texas area elementary school. The reading and writing development of this microcosm of "at-risk" children was followed as they progressed from first through fourth grade. The author poses the question, "What skills and abilities of the child, and what classroom factors, appear to foster literacy development?" Included here are the author's models of reading and writing acquisition, and application of these models to six children: three with literacy problems and three with successful literacy development. Interviews with the children are presented along with measures of their cognitive development and skills, samples of their reading and writing from and throughout the four year study, and an examination of their successes and failures in relations to the models presented in earlier chapters. Additionally, one chapter examines school-related factors that may play a role in the children's reading development. The book is intended for graduate students at all levels and literacy researchers who are interested in the process of literacy acquisition as it occurs in the school setting.

Book Description
.This book is a collection of stories told by so many of you, anonymously, with most having prose written by me in response to the stories. Some will have open space for you to lay your story, or to simply vent. Blank pages to express yourself. An positive affirmations, heartache, lots of old pain, and current healing. We all are at different parts of our lives, so many might touch different stories than others, or all might be out your range, but you will still love this collection. This book is full of life. It's full of every emotion. It's full of secrets from people who can't confront themselves or others with such confidence because we don't want to hurt or have hurt inflicted upon us. It's a book for all of us. It's a journey. Hearing different stories from many different souls is very inspiring to keep moving forward and creating what you've always prayed to behold. I love this collection so much. I can't wait to share it with all of you. I count down the days until you all get to be a part of this. Thank you for all the ones who chose to be apart of this, I thank you for your stories and your bravery to share your deepest secrets. I thank you for trusting me with something that's so close to your heart. I pray you're all somewhere beautiful now, or in the process to being. And to all the ones who didn't get to share, or couldn't bring yourself to it, I'm praying for you too, and hope you find the strength when you read this, and share a piece of you in there too. Thank you for being apart of something so meaningful to me.

Book Description
Read, Write, Connect provides integrated instruction in reading and writing paragraphs and essays with a thematic reader full of high-interest selections students will want to read and write about. The text begins with a walk-through of the reading and writing processes and then moves on to a series of workshop chapters that provide in-depth coverage of key topics like finding main ideas and drafting and organizing an essay. Throughout, the text demonstrates that academic processes are recursive, and the structure of the text reflects this recursivity: as students move from the early chapters to the workshop chapters, they build upon earlier learning, digging deeper into the material and gaining confidence along the way. The second edition offers new chapters and new features devoted to stronger, more integrated coverage of reading; expanded coverage of research and grammar; and exciting new readings, class-tested by the authors. Read, Write, Connect, Second Edition, can be packaged with LaunchPad Solo for Readers and Writers, allowing you to more efficiently track students’ progress with reading, writing, and grammar skills in an active learning arc that complements the book.

Book Description
Aprendo a leer y escribir, is a series of books that present effective activities for teaching reading and writing to children who are learning Spanish as a first or second language. It is also for those children who have difficulty reading and writing, because of a learning difference or from limited exposure to the printed word. This is an activity book that Special Ed teachers, Reading Intervention and General Education teachers, and even Non-specialist teachers in bilingual or dual Immersion programs can use to support differentiated instruction. And of course, this activity book can be used by parents who want to help their child to learn to read and write in Spanish. The best method to teach reading in Spanish is a Phonetic Syllabic Method because the syllable in the Spanish language is the smallest sound unit easy to pronounce, and recognized by children. This Phonetic Syllabic Method used in Aprende a Leer y Escribir, teaches the five vowels first. Then the syllables are introduced. Once the child dominates the new syllable, this one is combined with the next one to make a new word. By the end of the workbook, the child will be able to read any two or more direct syllable word (Consonant + vowel) word. Every word in the book Aprendo a Leer y Escribir, has an illustration as a visual support. In this way, the children understand all the words that they read. New words are introduced with each new syllable. By the end of the book, the child will have learned 500 new words. The twenty-two syllables are introduced following a sequence based on the frequency of appearance in words used by early literacy texts, and also words familiar to children.Aprendo a Leer y Escribir, comes in a series of five workbooks, each workbook covers the following letters. Book 1: Vowels AEIOU; Book 2: M P S L T; Book 3: R N B F; Book 4: C (ca,co,cu) C (ce,ci) que, qui. J G; Book 5: CH V LL Y Z K W X ñ
