Book Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) isin charge of realizing, maintaining, and disseminating the international Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). The Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) Calibration Laboratory of the NIST Thermometry Group realizes the ITS-90 from the argon triple point (Ar TP, 189.3442 °C) to the silver freezing point (Ag FP, 961.78 °C) for the calibration of SPRTs. This special publication describes the calibration services, methods, measurement assurance, and uncertainties for the NIST ITS-90 calibration SPRTs.

Book Description
The monograph describes the methods and equipment employed at the National Bureau of Standards for calibrating standard platinum resistance thermometers (SPRT) on the International Practical Temperature Scale (IPTS-68).The official text of the scale is clarified and characteristics of the scale are described.Several designs of SPRT's are shown and discussed in the light of the requirements and recommendations on the text of the IPTS-68.Possible sources of error such as those due to the internal and external self-heating effects and the immersion characteristics of SPRT's are described in detail.Precautions and limitations for the mechanical and thermal treatment and for the shipment of SPRT's are indicated, and a guide is given for those desiring the thermometer calibration services of NBS.(Modified author abstract).

Book Description
The Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) is defined by the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90) as the interpolating instrument for temperatures between 13.8033 K and 1234.93 K. This SRM concerns the calibration characteristics of a group of 20 capsule-type SPRTs within the range of temperatures between 13.8033 K and 429.7485 K. The platinum wire used for the construction of the resistor elements of this SRM was derived from platinum bar stock with a chemical purity of 99.999 % by weight. Each of the 20 units has been evaluated, certified, and calibrated according to the definitions of the ITS-90. The resistance characteristics of all 20 units have been measured at 11 fixed point temperatures from 4.22 K to 429.7485 K as well as at least 7 other intermediate points. The procedures used in performing the calibrations and the supplemental measurements are documented in this publication. The resulting analysis pertaining to each individual unit, as well as the SRM sample population as a whole, is presented in detail.

Book Description
Volume 2 of the Handbook of Temperature Measurement, prepared by the CSIRO National Measurement Laboratory, Australia, discusses the operation, calibration and usage of resistance and liquid-in-glass thermometers. Both standard-platinum-resistance thermometers and industrial-resistance thermometers are examined, and details on a variety of resistance-measuring techniques are given. Also included is a final version of the official text of the International Temperature Scale 1990 (ITS-90). The authors of this volume are John J. Connolly and E. Corina Horrigan.

Book Description
Electrical Impedance: Principles, Measurement, and Applications provides a modern and much-needed overview of electrical impedance measurement science and its application in metrology, sensor reading, device and material characterizations. It presents up-to-date coverage of the theory, practical methods, and modeling. The author covers the main impedance measurement techniques, stressing their practical application. The book includes a large set of measurement setup schematics, and diagrams and photos of standards and devices. It also offers an extensive list of references to both historical and recent papers on devices, methods, and traceability issues. Reviews the main definitions of the quantities related to impedance, some theorems of particular interest, the issue of impedance representation, and introduces the problem of impedance definition Lists devices, appliances, circuits, and instruments employed as building blocks of impedance measurement setups Classifies the main impedance measurement methods, including details on their implementation when a specific impedance definition is chosen Discusses the increasing use of mixed-signal electronics in impedance measurement setups Covers applications including details on the measurement of electromagnetic properties of materials Introduces impedance metrology, including artifact impedance standards, and the realization and reproduction of SI impedance units

Book Description
Excerpt from Standard Reference Material 1750: Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometers, 13. 8033 K to 429. 7485 K The calibration data are used to produce a set of numerical coefficients for two deviation equations for the its - 90 sub-ranges of K to K and K to K. When these two deviation equations are combined with the appropriate its 90 reference functions, the sprt can be used to interpolate all temperatures within the range of calibration. Further details concerning the structure of the scale may be found in nist Technical Note 126512. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
