Were it not for officials at Xavier University, this book would never have been written. As part of the Master's Degree, a student had to do a research project. I chose to write the History of St. Leon as my research project. Gene McCann, who was the editor of the Lawrenceburg Register at that time, told me he would pay me for the rights to publish it when it was finished. I agreed and Gene and I took many pictures of structures in St. Leon that were still standing at that time. Many of those pictures are included in this revised version of the History of St. Leon.

Book Description
St. Leon is the story of a French aristocrat, Count Reginald de St. Leon, who loses his fortune gambling and experiences guilt that almost drives him crazy. Count Reginald narrates his life story, starting with his father's death when he was an infant. He was brought up by his mother, a woman full of the prejudices of aristocracy and magnificence. Reginald had great regard for aristocratic honor. After being inspired by his uncle, the Marquis de Villeroy, he joined the Italian war of 1521–1526, hoping to gain military fame in the battle of Pavia. When he returned home from service, he found out that his mother was dead, and the twenty-year-old was forced to take control of his own affairs. The novel explores the themes of immortality, love and friendship, integrity, and religion. Godwin combines elements of domestic, philosophical, and fantasy novels into a historical fiction of extensive range. There are exciting gothic elements in the story.

Book Description
Daniel Ponce de Leon's hard-fought journey to Major League Baseball and recovery from a near-death injury, followed by his astonishing big league debut, will inspire readers to trust God in all circumstances. The path you take to achieving your dreams is not always easy. Daniel Ponce de Leon, an acclaimed pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, overcame many challenges to get to the Major Leagues. Drafted four times, he spent a long four years climbing his way up through the minors before finally reaching AAA, only one step away from the Major Leagues. Then, Daniel's dream was almost shattered when he was struck in the head by a line drive. Spending weeks in the hospital and months recovering from a large epidural hematoma, skull fracture, brain swelling, and hemorrhaging, Daniel held on to his belief that he would one day realize his dream. Fourteen months later, and fully recovered, he made his first Major League start, becoming the fifth pitcher in modern Major League history to throw seven innings of no-hit ball in his first outing. MLB.com referred to it as one of the greatest debuts in Major League Baseball history. In One Line Drive, Daniel retells his remarkable journey, sharing how he never would have made it without his faith in God and the support of family and friends. Full of grit, determination, and faith, Daniel's story is an inspiring reminder to keep pressing on regardless of any setback or disappointment.

Book Description
Historic St. Augustine Research Institute William L. Proctor Award Henry Flagler's opulent Hotel Ponce de Leon drew worldwide praise from the day its elaborately carved doors opened in 1888. Built in the Spanish Renaissance Revival style, the architectural and engineering marvel featured the talents of a team of renowned artisans, including the designs of architects John Carrère, Thomas Hastings, and Bernard Maybeck, electricity by Thomas Edison, and interior decoration and stained glass windows by Louis Tiffany. Hotel Ponce de Leon is the first work to present the building's complete history and detail its transformation into the heart of Flagler College. Leslee Keys, who assisted in the restoration, recounts the complicated construction of the hotel--the first major structure to be built entirely of poured concrete--and the efforts to preserve it and restore it to its former glory. The methods used at Flagler College have been recognized as best practices in historic preservation and decorative arts conservation, and today the campus is one of Florida's most visited heritage tourism destinations.
