Schizophrenia Or Spirit Possession?

Languages : en
Pages : 220
Book Description
While working as a medium over the past 35 years, I have met many people who thought they were mentally ill because they were hearing voices. There are people who will live their lives taking medication they don't need, because the medical profession don't believe people's brain can be affected by discarnate spirit. There are other causes for hearing voices and having mood swings etc. Like the side affects when taking medication and certain illness's. When these have been eliminated there can be only one cause. Scientists study the brain looking for abnormalities to explain mental illness, but it is not always the brain. The problem is from another source, the spirit world. The criteria for diagnosing Schizophrenia is discussed and there is no pathology for Schizophrenia. It can be seen that if medical science was right, then anyone who is in touch with the spirit world, including mediums are either Schizophrenic, Bi-polar or have Multiple personality disorder. The brain is like a receiver, it receives information from external sources through senses such as sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. There is another sense called the sixth sense. this information is received in the brain in the same way as the physical sense except there is no physical presence to the sensations received. This can lead to conflicting and often confusing information that the conscious cannot process correctly as it has no relationship to the physical world. If we consider the brain as the receiver and the conscious as the physical then the subconscious is the spiritual part of our reality. The energy that is life is spiritual, which is where the mind resides and where we store all the knowledge and experiences of our existence. When we remember something we are accessing our mind, much like a computer does the hard drive, to bring the memory to the conscious ness. Like a computer that has access to the internet the brain has access via the mind to the spiritual reality. Unfortunately like the computer which can be affected by a virus the brain can also be affected by other minds in the spirit world. The brain doesn't always recognise the location the information is coming from and so will accept it as genuine. It's only by tuning the receiver or brain that we learn to recognise the correct location the information is coming from. There are times when the information is coming from a malevolent source, this can lead to misconceptions as to what is and isn't real. This book explores the problems and the lack of understanding by the medical and scientific world in relation to some mental illness's being experienced by people in the modern world.

The Spiritual Gift of Madness
Author: Seth Farber
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1594777039
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 439
Book Description
A bold call for the “insane” to reclaim their rightful role as prophets of spiritual and cultural transformation • Explains how many of those diagnosed as schizophrenic, bipolar, and other forms of “madness” are not ill but experiencing a spiritual awakening • Explores the rise of Mad Pride and the mental patients’ liberation movement • Reveals how those seen as “mad” must embrace their spiritual gifts to help the coming global spiritual transition Many of the great prophets of the past experienced madness--a breakdown followed by a breakthrough, spiritual death followed by rebirth. With the advent of modern psychiatry, the budding prophets of today are captured and transformed into chronic mental patients before they can flower into the visionaries and mystics they were intended to become. As we approach the tipping point between extinction and global spiritual awakening, there is a deep need for these prophets to embrace their spiritual gifts. To make this happen, we must learn to respect the sanctity of madness. We need to cultivate Mad Pride. Exploring the rise of Mad Pride and the mental patients’ liberation movement as well as building upon psychiatrist R. D. Laing’s revolutionary theories, Seth Farber, Ph.D., explains that diagnosing people as mad has more to do with social control than therapy. Many of those labeled as schizophrenic, bipolar, and other kinds of “mad” are not ill but simply experiencing different forms of spiritual awakening: they are seeing and feeling what is wrong with society and what needs to be done to change it. Farber shares his interviews with former schizophrenics who now lead successful and inspiring lives. He shows that it is impossible for society to change as long as the mad are suppressed because they are our catalysts of social change. By reclaiming their rightful role as prophets of spiritual and cultural revitalization, the mad--by seeding new visions for our future--can help humanity overcome the spiritual crisis that endangers our survival and lead us to a higher and long-awaited stage of spiritual development.

Hearing Voices, Demonic and Divine
Author: Christopher C. H. Cook
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 0429750943
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 462
Book Description
The Open Access version of this book, available at www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9781472453983, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivative 4.0 license. Experiences of hearing the voice of God (or angels, demons, or other spiritual beings) have generally been understood either as religious experiences or else as a feature of mental illness. Some critics of traditional religious faith have dismissed the visions and voices attributed to biblical characters and saints as evidence of mental disorder. However, it is now known that many ordinary people, with no other evidence of mental disorder, also hear voices and that these voices not infrequently include spiritual or religious content. Psychological and interdisciplinary research has shed a revealing light on these experiences in recent years, so that we now know much more about the phenomenon of "hearing voices" than ever before. The present work considers biblical, historical, and scientific accounts of spiritual and mystical experiences of voice hearing in the Christian tradition in order to explore how some voices may be understood theologically as revelatory. It is proposed that in the incarnation, Christian faith finds both an understanding of what it is to be fully human (a theological anthropology), and God’s perfect self-disclosure (revelation). Within such an understanding, revelatory voices represent a key point of interpersonal encounter between human beings and God.

Christ and Schizophrenia
Author: Lucien R. J. Pilon
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781770695887
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 128
Book Description
An individual's mind, body, and soul can suffer many scars throughout their journey. At times, these wounds occur because we don't have divine truth to battle back the devil's lies. Author Lucien Pilon has suffered from schizophrenia and experienced auditory hallucinations. As such, he came to rely on the Holy Spirit to destroy the lies he heard time and time again. An individual's testimony can bring light to another's darkness: knowledge is power! It is written that God's creations perish because they don't have the wisdom and understanding to aid them on their journey to the everlasting. Pilon fought back the darkness with God's Word, the Holy Spirit, and his love for life as he gradually climbed the spiritual mountains God laid before him. Along the way, God showed him his worth even in sickness. He decided to share his journey so that those who read it can humbly grow to become God's glory, carrying the keys to Heaven and helping to heal and free others from the captivity of sin, empowered by God's wisdom, light, and love through the Lord Jesus Christ. Only the fool says, "There is no God." About the Author: Lucien R.J. Pilon is an artist who recently received his Bachelor of Fine Arts. The youngest of five boys, he was born and raised in Southwestern Ontario. This book shares his personal journey with schizophrenia and is a testimony of God's faithfulness.

Handbook of Religion and Health
Author: Harold G. Koenig
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0190088850
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 1113
Book Description
"The 2001 edition (1st) was a comprehensive review of history, research, and discussions on religion and health through the year 2000. The Appendix listed 1,200 separate quantitative studies on religion and health each rated in quality on 0-10 scale, followed by about 2,000 references and an extensive index for rapid topic identification. The 2012 edition (2nd) of the Handbook systematically updated the research from 2000 to 2010, with the number of quantitative studies then reaching the thousands. This 2022 edition (3rd) is the most scientifically rigorous addition to date, covering the best research published through 2021 with an emphasis on prospective studies and randomized controlled trials. Beginning with a Foreword by Dr. Howard K. Koh, former US Assistant Secretary for Health for the Department of Health and Human Services, this nearly 600,000-word volume examines almost every aspect of health, reviewing past and more recent research on the relationship between religion and health outcomes. Furthermore, nearly all of its 34 chapters conclude with clinical and community applications making this text relevant to both health care professionals (physicians, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, counsellors, psychologists, sociologists, etc.) and clergy (community clergy, chaplains, pastoral counsellors, etc.). The book's extensive Appendix focuses on the best studies, describing each study in a single line, allowing researchers to quickly locate the existing research. It should not be surprising that for Handbook for the past two decades has been the most cited of all references on religion and health"--
