Excerpt from Spinster Farm The first edition of "Peggy at Spinster Farm" was published under the title selected for the manuscript, "Spinster Farm," but, shortly after the book appeared, the friends, both of the author and of the publishers, pointed out that "Peggy at Spinster Farm" was the more appropriate title, since, after all, it is around Peggy and her love affair that the book centres. Accordingly, but few copies of the first printing had been issued before it was decided to change the title, and the greater portion of the first edition appeared with the present title, "Peggy at Spinster Farm." In the second printing the new title is adhered to, but it is deemed advisable to explain the somewhat unusual action of changing the title of a story after publication.
