Book Description
"Songs of a Broken-Winged Bird is the second series to "Tales of a Broken-Winged Bird." "Tales of a Broken-Winged Bird," was a real and raw poetry book that highlighted Chelsea's ups and downs. "Songs of a Broken-Winged Bird," takes readers on part 2 of that journey, highlighting the songs that Chelsea has sung, metaphorically speaking, while she felt like a broken-winged bird. It is her hope that others can know that can still sing in the midst of their darkest battles, whether it be struggling with faith in God, mental illness, grief, loss of job, etc.. Even though one's song may be different from everyone else, it shows that they are still fighting. When a bird has gone limp, it may let out a chirp to let its mother and father know it is still alive. One can still sing even though they may feel caged or broken. Maya Angelou once said, "I know why the caged bird sings," do you know why you sing and what songs you sing? Everybody has a song that they sing in their darkest hour, what's yours?"-- back cover.

Book Description
This posthumous novel from acclaimed author David Budbill tells the story of The Man Who Lives Alone in the Mountains. As winter descends on his idyllic home, the man encounters a bird with a broken wing, sending him into a poetic and profound meditation on solitude, friendship, and the unstoppable march of time. In the deep woods of Vermont, The Man Who Lives Alone in the Mountains exists in solitude and simplicity. His days are spent caring for his garden and observing the birds and creatures that visit his home. His nights are spent in a contemplative world of music, poetry, letter writing, and, most importantly, bird watching. As November arrives and The Man prepares for winter, he notices an injured bird, shiny and black, holding his own among bullying blue jays. He is drawn to the bird’s spirit of survival and freedom and names it Broken Wing. Since his only neighbors are a couple of hostile brothers and their bird-hunting cat, Broken Wing becomes a source of inspiration—and a friend. As fall changes to winter and back to spring, The Man’s dreams of Broken Wing give way to meditations on the peaks and valleys of life, the passage of time, and the poetry of nature.

Book Description
A lovely bookstore owner asked me why she should read this book? I explained that in writing this book, I undertook a purposeful investigation leading where angels (and all good Baptists) fear to tread. It was during this attempt at explanation the picture formed in my mind of addressing an auditorium full of women. My opening remark to them is: 'Women hunger and thirst for romance. What is it that men want?" The entire audience responds with a resounding chorus in unison with one word: 'SEX!" I then ask: 'No, really ladies, what do men really want?" Again, with a single voice the chorus returns, loudly: 'SEX!" Seeing that I am getting nowhere fast I decide to try a new tack. I ask: 'Please, ladies, as a Romantic, a Poet, what do I, as a man, want?" Back it comes: 'SEX!" There is a definite mind set at work here. Okay, honestly, as a Romantic, a Poet, what do I want from a woman: SEX! Satisfied? But my admission of common guilt is only true to a point. Believe it or not, ladies, some men like myself want romance as much as you do. It is in searching for this elusive thing that I have discovered so much that betrays you ladies in the very areas you are supposed to excel in the romance department. I treat the causes and results of such betrayal in this book.

Book Description
First published in 1917, “The Broken Wing - Songs of Love, Death & Destiny – 1915-1916” is collection of beautiful poetry by Indian poet and activist Sarojini Naidu. A wonderful collection not to be missed by fans and collectors of classic Indic poetry. Contents include: “The Broken Wing Songs of Life and Death”, “Memorial Verses”, “The Following Year”, “The Peacock-lute Songs for Music”, and “The Temple, A Pilgrimage of Love”. Naidu (1879–1949) was an Indian political activist and poet. She was a staunch proponent of women's emancipation, civil rights, and anti-imperialistic ideas, playing an important role in India's struggle for independence from colonial rule. Her work as a poet includes both children's poems and others with more mature themes including patriotism, romance, and tragedy, earning her the sobriquet “Nightingale of India”. Her most famous work is "In the Bazaars of Hyderabad" (1912), which remains widely read to this day. Other notable works by this author include: “The Bird of Time: Songs of Life, Death & the Spring” (1912) and “Muhammad Jinnah: An Ambassador of Unity” (1919). This classic work is being republished now in a new edition complete with an introductory chapter chapter from 'Studies of Contemporary Poets' by Mary C. Sturgeon.
