Book Description
It has been proposed to use Freon 114 as the dense gas in a sled test in which a real reentry vehicle will be flown into a plywood shock tube filled with a dense gas. The nuclear blast head-on intercept would be simulated by the vehicle intercepting a blast wave in the tube. Tables of real gas properties of pure Freon 114, normal shock relations for pure Freon 114, and real gas properties of Air-Freon mixtures were developed to make possible accurate predictions of the extent of simulation that can be achieved in this experiment. The real gas properties are tabulated for pressures from 1 to 4000 psi over a temperature range from about 0 to 700F. The normal shock tables use initial conditions of 12.7 psi and 70.3F and cover the range of shocks up to a Mach number of 6. The tables are designed for use in calculating reflected shocks. The Air-Freon 114 property table includes the effect of the percent of air by weight on the speed of sound and ratio of specific heats of the mixture for several temperatures of 12.7 psi. For pure Freon 114, a table of viscosity and a plot showing the absorption in the infrared portion of the spectrum are also included. (Author).
