Book Description
Excerpt from Some Testimonies of Truth, Set Forth for the Healing of the Nations How reasonable then is it for a man who is learned in Christ Jesus, to say with the apostle, Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. And it is praiseworthy in the brethren to remember him in all things, and keep the ordinances as he delivers them thus acknowledging the good gift to be of God. Book Description
The perfect gift! A specially priced, beautifully designed hardcover edition of The Joy of the Gospel with a foreword by Robert Barron and an afterword by James Martin, SJ. “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus… In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.” – Pope Francis This special edition of Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Advocating for “the homeless, the addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned,” the Holy Father shows us how to respond to poverty and current economic challenges that affect us locally and globally. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth. Includes a foreword by Robert Barron, author of Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith and James Martin, SJ, author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage

Book Description
Excerpt from The Healing of the Nations The title of this book, the healing OF the nations, is dictated from the same spiritual source as the book itself. The writer, charles linton, is a native of New town Township, Bucks County, State of Pennsylvania, and is now about twenty-six years of age. He is a young man of good natural capacity, of limited education, having only had the advantages of a common district school in Penn sylvania, and that, too, at a time when the common schools of that State were not as far advanced as they now are. He had no opportunity of going beyond the common branches, and, as he has often said to me, never did like to go to school. At the age of sixteen he went to learn the blacksmith's trade, and worked at it till nearly - twenty two years of age. He then engaged as a clerk in a dry goods store in Philadelphia, and afterward as a book keeper of a firm of lumber commission merchants. Whilst thus engaged, he became developed as a writing medium, and most of his time Since he has been thus employed. Some of the purest and most exalted communications which I have seen have come through him. His character for personal integrity and moral purity is unblemished. Book Description
Excerpt from The Healing of the Nations: Second SeriesThere is no rational man but who at times is blessed with ideas that could and would do his brother good. Thou hast one gift, I have one, we cannot change; let us each improve that which we have, and surely more will be added unto us.I believe but few men know their high privileges. But few really strive to cultivate and thus elevate those noble inward powers of the soul which alone can place man on solid ground. Truth is glorious, but far more elevated is that power which comprehends it.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from The Grace of Healing We have no other foundation than the word of God for our faith in divine healing. We need no other. Every unbiased mind must see it in the word of God. Testimony is good, and often gives a divine impulse to our faith in the living promises; but the word of God alone is the Rock upon which our faith must stand. Every individual must find this sure foundation for his feet, so that in every trial his faith may rest secure, and he may triumphantly say, I am built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone. Praise God! We are in the midst of all the gospel privileges. Let us open our hearts toward God, and through his excel lent living Word let us drink in the streams of unceas ing blessings. Our spiritual and physical life may be deluged with grace. The throne of grace is accessi ble, and provides every need for soul and body. We use the term grace of healing because it is the favor of God shown toward us in his merciful pro vision for the health of his people. The health cove nant with Israel was but the foreshadowing of this grace, which should be revealed through the gospel of Christ, which is extended to all who meet the condi tions of redemption, and through faith become heirs according to the promise. Book Description
A.W. Tozer maintained that a theologian’s message must be ‘both timeless and timely’, a sentiment borne out in the fact that his writing on worship still acts as an urgent warning today. Tozer is primarily concerned with the loss of the concept of ‘majesty’ from the popular mind and more importantly from the thinking of the church. He sees the church as having surrendered her once lofty concept of God – not deliberately, but little by little and without her knowledge. With this comes a further loss of religious awe and a sense of the divine presence, of an appropriate spirit of worship and of our ability to withdraw inwardly to meet God in adoring silence. Tozer addresses this problem, to go back to the causes of the decline and to understand and correct the errors that have given rise to our devotional poverty. ‘It is impossible to keep our moral practices sound and our inward attitudes right while our idea of God is erroneous or inadequate,’ he tells us. What is needed is a restoration of our knowledge of the holy.

Book Description
A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.
