Book Description
It's about time you begin to feel heard even when no one is listening. To feel seen even when your illness is invisible to everyone. Living with a chronic illness is no easy thing. It is often filled with a life of doubt, pain, dismissal from medical providers, accusations, and hopelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way. Soaring With Chronic Illness offers practical advice, tips, and nuggets of encouragement from someone who has been in your shoes. Jenn Bovee, a trauma survivor, and chronic illness advocate uses her own debilitating experiences to offer a fresh, humorous take on what it's truly like living with chronic illnesses and one can do more than just manage it. This book isn't written to suggest that you simply accept your body the way it is, like so many of our friends and physicians say. This book leaves you with something deeper, something better. A way for you to stop viewing your body as the enemy and start validating what you feel, see, and hear. Reading this book will have you walking away with: - Actionable steps to begin thriving in your chronic illness, rather than just surviving it - The encouragement to view your body and mind with honor and self-love - Real stories from the author to help you feel validated, seen, and heard - The strength to find your voice so you can advocate for yourself You do not have to walk in fear, disappointment, or silence any longer. Soaring With Chronic Illness is waiting to give you the tools and encouragement to not just survive, but thrive.

Book Description
Twenty-seven-year-old Laurie Edwards is one of 125 million Americans who have a chronic illness, in her case a rare genetic respiratory disease. Because of medical advances in the treatment of serious childhood diseases, 600,000 chronically ill teens enter adulthood every year who decades ago would not have survived-they and people diagnosed in adulthood face the same challenges of college, career, and starting a family as others in their twenties and thirties, but with the added circumstance of having chronic illness. Life Disrupted is a personal and unflinching guide to living well with a chronic illness: managing your own health care without letting it take over your life, dealing with difficult doctors and frequent hospitalizations, having a productive and satisfying career that accommodates your health needs, and nurturing friendships and a loving, committed relationship regardless of recurring health problems. Laurie Edwards also addresses the particular needs of people who have more than one chronic illness or who are among the twenty-five million Americans with a rare disorder. She shares her own story and the experiences of others with chronic illness, as well as advice from life coaches, employment specialists, and health professionals. Reading Life Disrupted is like having a best friend and mentor who truly does know what you're going through.

Book Description
After a few hectic - but wonderful - years, I woke up in a hospital close to my hometown in Sweden. What had happened? Only yesterday, I felt like a champion. Maybe it was my eagerness to explore the world around me that had put me here. Or maybe it was my fear of missing out on some potentially rewarding experience. Maybe I had been just a little bit too eager trying to make my dreams come true, or could my brush with death simply be a case of bad luck? There was a severe inflammation in my brain, which at times made it hard for me even to recognize my loved ones. To me, questions like 2 + 2 seemed more fitting for a rocket scientist. The doctors were deeply concerned and told me that my prognosis was very uncertain. Things certainly looked bleak, but surviving this whole ordeal was still in the cards. At the time, it made more sense to me to simply see my situation as a case of bad luck. Nonetheless, six months later and completely recovered, I realized that this was the result of something completely different. My love for life and my desire to experience as much as possible had blocked my inner signals. It was like an inner voice telling me to "Relax. Don't try to do everything at once. Stop and smell the roses." Unfortunately, I ignored this worried voice that was trying to look out for me. As I took my first stumbling steps leaving the hospital, I can still clearly remember how alert my senses truly were. Children's laughter made me feel all warm inside. The simple beauty of the sky shifting color made me stop all of a sudden in awe. Smelling the first spring flowers gave me goose bumps. The taste of fresh air being sucked into my lungs made me feel deeply relaxed and the sensation of once again experiencing life made me somewhat euphoric. I was completely present in the moment and my senses were shaper than ever before. This was the beginning of a new journey for me. I started to examine exactly what is needed to create the best possible conditions for feeling good and how we are to create the best possible lives for ourselves. Eight years later, I have now compiled my research and theories in this book. My research has led me to conclude that it is possible for each and every one of us to feel good, every day, throughout our whole lives.

Book Description
When Marisa Zeppieri was 22-years-old she found herself face-to-face with a raven-haired elderly woman who had emerged from a crowd and gently taken her hands: God will use these hands to change people's lives.Years later Marisa's once-spirited demeanor was shrouded in anger and bitterness. Triggered first by a near-fatal car accident that sent her 100-lb body flying from a crosswalk and later by a painful Lupus diagnosis, she became stuck in a season of brokenness. But in the seasons that followed, an insatiable emotional, spiritual, and physical hunger took over: She learned how to nourish her broken body with the help of food, herbs, and a gastronomically-gifted Italian grandmother, while also nourishing her broken heart and crushed spirit through a deeper relationship with God.With Chronically Fabulous, Marisa fulfills the old woman's prophecy by offering pure nourishment to those of us living with chronic illness, helping us create wholeness and well-being through a love of food. Here, the founder of LupusChick, a nonprofit supporting those with autoimmune diseases, offers guiding principles, personal stories, and recipes that support whole-life thriving. With the depth, smarts, and spiritual advice beloved by her dedicated followers, Marisa shows us how faith, passion, and persistence can radically change our lives.
