Indeed, the Shi'i scholars and literati of various branches and regions, including scientists, philosophers, theologians, jurists and poets, have made seminal contributions to Islamic thought and culture. Assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization have provoked global controversy and ethical debate.
