Book Description
Excerpt from The Gladiolus Book, 1927 The first planting can be made as soon as the frost is out of the ground in April and by making plantings at intervals of ten days to two weeks up to July lst, it will be possible to have a succession of flowers through the Summer and Fall. When a certain color scheme is to be carried out, or if flowers of one color are desired for cutting, named varieties should be used. Our mixture will always give satisfaction for ordinary garden use. The bulbs may be planted three to five inches deep and about the same distance apart in the row, rows about twenty inches apart. Where only a few are grown they can be planted with a trowel in open spaces between other flowers in the garden beds or borders, or in grou s, giving the bulbs the same amount 0 space as if planted in rows. Always keep the ground well stirred and free from weeds. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
