Book Description
Excerpt from Sappho and Phaon: A Tragedy This volume constitutes the text of Mr. Harrison Grey Fiske's production of Sappho and Phaon for Madame Kalich and her company, and consists of that main portion of my published play entitled T he Tragedy. The other portions - Prologue, In duction, Prelude, Interludes, and Epilogue - which form an archaeological setting for The Tragedy, or play proper, it has been decided in the present pro duction to omit; not because they are considered by manager or author as impractical for use in the theatre, or as disproportionate in relation to the whole, but because the results of their inclusion were not deemed sufficiently predictable to warrant their pro duction at this time. And in this decision the author has heartily concurred. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in our edition. We do, however, repair the vast majority of imperfections successfully; any imperfections that remain are intentionally left to preserve the state of such historical works.
