Rising To Meet Our Transformation began as a few thoughts that mushroomed into many ideas that were in my poetic brain flow for quite awhile. Thus I began putting these thoughts into a wide array of poems on paper. Some of these poetic ideas the reader may closely relate to; yet other poetic words may still be more personal and private. As I wrote I allowed the flow of words and ideas to make their impact; then I changed and rearranged where the order and actual word composition required a better flow. Transformation was the key ingredient of this book and in many instances it will be just that. Nonetheless there are poetic thoughts that relate to a different type of change which may not be totally transforming, but at the same time be identifiable. My hope is that there will be a adequate array of poems that would spark the audience. Transformation requires a radical change in our thinking which translates into our personal life and living. Often we change to survive or become enamoured with a new idea that fills our void' so we change while our surroundings remain somewhat intact. Yet in real time our environment will recreate itself so we will eventually be transformed into a new age so let us begin! Bill Leahy December 2013

The root of human dilemmas, although they always present themselves in multiple hues, invariably plunges into the question of human dualism, consciousness and matter. There's a subtle cosmic Darwinism going on that we haven't paid attention to yet. A real universal filter is at work, silently decimating intelligent biological species across the Universe. The "Fermi paradox" suggests this possibility explicitly. The human mind, this highly efficient and complex biological software, emerged from this same Darwinian process of violent and brutal struggle for survival. So, the mind also naturally tends to aggression and violence when dissociated from consciousness, that “energy” that many decided to call pejoratively as “the ghost in the machine”. The human world in general expresses precisely such “reality” created by the mind, when dissociated from consciousness. Hence our inclination towards indifference and aggression. Our animal instincts are still highly active, determining our every move. So, the nuclear age effectively corresponds to the turning point of intelligent species. Every day we seem to take a step forward towards "defcon 1", the threat of imminent nuclear destruction. The existence of the doomsday clock is known only to a few. Atomic weapons are not "peace insurers" by the certainty of mutual assured destruction (M.A.D.). This is a truly insane perspective that exposes us in our ravings, making it more than clear that we have deviated from our natural evolutionary course. However, if we implode ourselves, it will only show that we never had what it takes to persevere as a conscious biological species. The Universe, however, will lose nothing. It is it's simple and natural way of functioning. The Parable of the Sower reminds us of this reality.
