Book Description
Excerpt from Fourth Report on the Agricultural Investigations in Alaska, 1900 Investigations at the Kenai station were in continuation of those inaugurated the previous season. Owing to a lack of drainage the fall-sown cereals were winterkilled, but spring-sown barley and oats matured good crops and vegetables were reported of fine quality. Mr. H. P. Nielsen, who was continued in charge of the Kenai station, writes that the example of one year's experiments has already done good, as may be seen by the increased number of small gardens in the vicinity of the station. Additional land has been cleared and pre pared for cultivation at both the Sitka and Kenai experiment stations. Book Description
Excerpt from Report of the Alaska Agricultural Experiment Stations, 1917 From an agricultural standpoint, 1917 was the worst season since these investigations have been in progress, the general average of results being, therefore, also the least satisfactory. The summer of 1915 was a favorable season from the standpoint of agriculture. By comparing the daily mean temperature at four of the stations for June, July, and August of that year with the temperatures of the same period for 1917, we find the cause of the difference in results. The facts are as follows. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
