En las industrias de manufactura, estos aspectos vienen determinados principalmente de las operaciones. La entrega a tiempo, juega un papel de suma importancia. Tiene impacto en el resultado financiero, desde gastos extra por expeditación hasta la pérdida potencial de clientes. El cada vez más complejo escenario de negocios hace que tanto clientes como aliados esperen respuesta inmediata y sus productos en las fechas solicitadas. Los retrasos pueden causar disminución de participación en los mercados o llegar tarde a nuevas oportunidades. En el presente trabajo se proponen y aplican técnicas de programación de proyectos como el método de PERT para analizar la variación de tiempo de ciclo en un producto en específico, entender el problema y después se usó el gráfico de Gantt como guía para monitorear el progreso de la producción a través dela línea. Gracias al apoyo de la gerencia y al trabajo en equipo, se consiguió reducir la variación del tiempo de ciclo arreglando problemas de calidad y superando la resistencia al cambio del personal operativo."--Resumen hoja iv.
