Book Description
This book introduces the Recovery Cycle, the only relatable model for positive change in sobriety and a simple roadmap for sober living. The author, a clinician in recovery herself, demonstrates how to talk to clients or anyone with an interest in sobriety in a pragmatic, like-minded way. The easy, conversational style encourages cultivation of solid, sober relationships and spiritual connections, all with an achievable, open-minded approach. Concrete methods honor the thinking and feeling parts of the recovering individual, thereby promoting personal empowerment and choice rather than generic prescriptive advice. The book speaks to all addiction disorders and discusses what every addicted person must go through to love their sober life, no matter what program they choose, no matter what addiction. Readers will find the journey toward emotional sobriety and spiritual recovery discussed in a simple, straightforward way, with depth and compassion. For clinicians who want to guide clients in recovery or for any motivated individual in recovery desiring to transform their life from one of pain and struggle to a beautiful work of heart, this book will be a welcome spark of inspiration and support—without the snore factor of a dry textbook.

Book Description
This book grew out of a major European Union (EU) funded project on the Hague Maintenance Convention of 2007 and on the EU Maintenance Regulation of 2009. The project involved carrying out analytical research on the implementation into national law of the EU Regulation and empirical research on the first year of its operation in practice. The project also engaged international experts in a major conference on recovery of maintenance in the EU and worldwide in Heidelberg in March 2013. The contributions in this book are the revised, refereed and edited versions of the best papers that were given at the conference. The book is divided into four parts: (i) comparative context (ii) international, looking at national and non-European regional practice and how the Hague Convention could change things; (iii) international and the EU, looking at issues covered by both the Hague Convention and the EU Regulation; and (iv) the EU - looking at the Maintenance Regulation. This is the first study to look carefully at both of the new cross-border maintenance regimes globally and in Europe and to begin the examination of the practical operation of the latter regime. The approval of the Hague Convention by the EU on 9 April 2014 is a major step forward for its practical significance in enabling the recovery of child and spousal support, as from 1 August 2014 all of the 28 EU Member States apart from Denmark will be bound by the Convention.

Book Description
This is a book about Recovery from the effects of alcoholism in my family of origin. After spending two years working the 12 Steps, I began to search for material that would help keep me well. I could not find anything that suited my purposes, so I began to write down issues that I needed to be aware of. While writing, I discovered that there were Fine Lines of Wellness with every issue; and the only way to work these issues was One Day at a Time. The book begins with a chapter entitled Weapons or Tools. It all came down to this was I going to use this event in my life as a weapon or a tool? It was a choice. I pass this information on to you in hopes that it can of service during your own recovery.

Book Description
This book offers six guiding principles that are key to lasting recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. It will help you understand why they're important, how they relate to the Twelve Steps, and why they work.
Anyone who has recovered from addiction to drugs or alcohol knows that getting sober is only the beginning. Working the Steps, patching life back together, and living sober are where the real work lies. While the Twelve Steps provide a program of lifelong recovery, recovery experts Sterling Shumway and Thomas Kimball have identified six essential values, or principles, that reinforce the Steps and that are key to achieving lasting recovery:
- • Hope: A reawakening after despair; to live with greater confidence
- • Healthy Coping Skills: Managing the pain and stress of life
- • Sense of Achievement and Accomplishment: Moving beyond the limits of addiction toward personal goals
- • Capacity for Meaningful Relationships: The positive support and connection with family and peers
- • Unique Identity Development: The emergence of a unique positive identity
- • Reclamation of Agency: The internal knowledge that you have choices in your behavior
Using their research, personal stories, and guided journals and exercises, Shumway and Kimball thoroughly unlock these complex principles for recovering addicts and their families, and provide practical steps for applying them to a long-term recovery program.
