Book Description
Expanding water reuse-the use of treated wastewater for beneficial purposes including irrigation, industrial uses, and drinking water augmentation-could significantly increase the nation's total available water resources. Water Reuse presents a portfolio of treatment options available to mitigate water quality issues in reclaimed water along with new analysis suggesting that the risk of exposure to certain microbial and chemical contaminants from drinking reclaimed water does not appear to be any higher than the risk experienced in at least some current drinking water treatment systems, and may be orders of magnitude lower. This report recommends adjustments to the federal regulatory framework that could enhance public health protection for both planned and unplanned (or de facto) reuse and increase public confidence in water reuse.

Book Description
In December 2002, a group of specialists on water resources from the United States and Iran met in Tunis, Tunisia, for an interacademy workshop on water resources management, conservation, and recycling. This was the fourth interacademy workshop on a variety of topics held in 2002, the first year of such workshops. Tunis was selected as the location for the workshop because the Tunisian experience in addressing water conservation issues was of interest to the participants from both the United States and Iran. This report includes the agenda for the workshop, all of the papers that were presented, and the list of site visits.

Book Description
In communities all around the world, water supplies are coming under increasing pressure as population growth, climate change, pollution, and changes in land use affect water quantity and quality. To address existing and anticipated water shortages, many communities are working to increase water conservation and are seeking alternative sources of water. Water reuse- the sue of treated wastewater, or "reclaimed" water, for beneficial purposes such as drinking, irrigation, or industrial uses- is one option that has helped some communities significantly expand their water supplies. Understanding Water Reuse summarizes the main findings of the National Research Council report Water Reuse: Expanding the Nation's Water Supply Through Reuse of Municipal Wastewater. The report provides an overview of the options and outlook for water reuse in the United States, discusses water treatment technologies and potential uses of reclaimed water, and presents a new analysis that compares the risks of drinking reclaimed water to those of drinking water from traditional sources.

Book Description
If water resources are to be distributed efficiently, equitably and cost-effectively in this rapidly changing world, then it is clear that current water management practices are no longer feasible. Innovative approaches are required to meet the increasing water demands of a growing world population and economy and the needs of the ecosystems supporting them. New approaches have to be employed at global, national and local levels. In Rethinking Water Management, a new generation of water experts from around the world examine the critical challenges confronting the water profession, including rainwater and groundwater management, recycling and reuse, water rights, transboundary access to water and financing of water. They offer important new perspectives on the use, management and conservation of fresh water, in terms of both quantity and quality, for the domestic, agricultural and industrial sectors, and show how a new set of paradigms can be applied to successfully manage water for the future. Caroline Figueres is Head of the Urban Infrastructure Department at UNESCO-IHE Water Education Institute in The Netherlands.Cecilia Tortajada is Vice President of the Third World Centre for Water Management in Mexico and Vice President-elect of the International Water Resources Association. Johan Rockstr'm is Water Resources Expert at UNESCO-IHE.

Book Description
This book covers the latest technologies and challenges for water reuse and unconventional water resources. It presents a comprehensive overview of water reuse as a key approach toward a sustainable solution, and it offers an important multidisciplinary perspective. The book brings together topics spanning from water treatment technologies to social expectation and acceptance, from integrated decisional platforms for policymakers to industrial symbiosis, and from environmental sustainability to legislation aspects. It appeals to both academic and non-academic lecturers, being a valuable resource for teaching and research. Divided into 4 parts, the book begins with an introduction to water quality and quantity evaluation and the opportunities and challenges of conventional and unconventional water sources. In the second part of the book, readers will learn about the established and innovative strategies for water reuse, including the recent advances in water and the analytical challenges. In Part 3, expert contributors examine policies, plans and regulations for water reuse, with a focus on the European Union Regulation 2020/741. The final part of this book offers a perspective on wastewater reuse in practice, including several case studies of successful water reuse initiatives. Given its breadth, this book is a valuable resource for PhD students, post-doc researchers, and professionals from water utilities and diverse water user sectors such as agriculture and industry. The book caters to those seeking to deepen their knowledge and contribute to innovative solutions for sustainable water reuse. It also supports and advances the UN’s sustainable development goals, in particular SDG6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
