Book Description
Previously published as part of the 1993 subscription to the journals: Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, Volume 79, Nos. 1/2, Tectonophysics, Volume 223, Nos. 1/2, Chemical Geology, Volume 108, Nos. 1/4, Sedimentary Geology, Volume 86, Nos. 1/2, Global and Planetary Change, Volume 8, Nos. 1/2, Marine Geology, Volume 113, Nos. 1/2, Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, Volume 103, Nos. 1/2 This is a selection of keynote papers that were presented at the Interdisciplinary Union Symposia of the 7th conference of the European Union of Geosciences (EUG) from 4 to 8 April 1993 in Strasbourg. It contains both chapters reporting on forefront research as well as review articles. Since the interdisciplinary approach in the earth sciences is increasingly important, the scope of the book is wide with contributions from geology, geophysics, geochemistry and adjacent fields in biology. In a similar spirit, problems dealing with the earth's mantle as well as topics related to shallower levels in the earth and coupled earth-ocean-atmosphere systems are part of this volume. As such it provides a survey of recent advances in a wide range of fields of the earth sciences.

Book Description
This edited book gives a general overview on current research, focusing on geoenvironmental issues and challenges in hydrogeosciences in model regions in Asia, Europe, and America, with a focus on the Middle East and Mediterranean region and surrounding areas. This proceedings book is based on the accepted papers for oral/poster presentations at the 2nd Springer Conference of the Arabian Journal of Geosciences (CAJG-2), Tunisia 2019. It offers a broad range of recent studies that discuss the latest advances in geoenvironmental and hydrogeosciences from diverse backgrounds including climate change, geoecology, biogeochemistry, water resources management, and environmental monitoring and assessment. It shares insights on how the understanding of ecological, climatological, oceanic and hydrological processes is the key for improving practices in environment management, including the eco-responsibility, scientific integrity, and social and ethical dimensions. It is of interest to scientists, engineers, practitioners, and policymakers in the field of environmental sciences including climatology, oceanography, ecology, biogeochemistry, environmental management, hydrology, hydrogeology, and geosciences in general. In particular, this book is of great value to students and environment-related professionals for further investigations on the state of Earth systems.

Book Description
While earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are shaking up the world, there are more exciting happenings in the diverse field of geological science. This fascinating look at the discipline of geology during the past 3 to 4 years casts an eye toward future directions and showcases new ideas and ways of thinking. The broad discipline of geology is as diverse and complex as the planet itself. The most recent advances in the field such as the debate about life on Mars and the melting of the polar ice caps are included. Special attention is given to the changing role of the practicing geologist from that of an explorer and discoverer of mineral resources to that of investigator, mitigator, and predictor of natural and man made environmental hazards. Key individuals are profiled and excerpts of letters, speeches, and articles are used to explain points of view and the meaning of their advances. Numerous sources of additional information including organizations and Internet resources guide readers in further research.

Book Description
This edited book is based on the papers accepted for presentation during the 2nd Springer Conference of the Arabian Journal of Geosciences (CAJG-2), Tunisia, in 2019. Major subjects treated in the book include geomorphology, sedimentology, and geochemistry. The book presents an updated unique view in conjugating field studies and modeling to better quantify the process-product binomial unusual in geosciences. In the geomorphology section, 24 papers deal with topics related to fault slip and incision rates, soil science, landslides and debris flows, coastal processes, and geoarcheology, and geoheritage. Under the sedimentology section, 34 papers including stratigraphy, and environmental, tectonic, and diagenetic processes, together with evolutionary, biostratigraphic, and paleo-environmental significance of paleontology are presented. Additionally, this section also contains papers on marine geosciences, from molecular proxies related to climate to geophysical surveys. Last but not least, the third section on geochemistry is composed of 26 papers that are focused on sedimentary geochemistry and mineralogical characterization, magmatic and metamorphic processes and products, and the origin and exploration of mineral deposits. This book resumes the current situation related to the abovementioned topics mainly in the Mediterranean realm. The volume book is of interest to all researchers, practitioners, and students in the fields of geomorphology, sedimentology, and geochemistry, as well as those engaged in environmental geosciences, soil science, stratigraphy and paleontology, geoarcheology and geoheritage, marine geosciences, petrology, metallogenesis, and mineral deposits.
