Book Description
Memory is a subject that recently has attracted many scholars and readers not only in the general historical sciences, but also in the special field of art history. However, in this book, in which more than 130 papers given at the XXIXth International Congress of the History of Art (Amsterdam) 1996 have been compiled, Memory is also juxtaposed to its counterpart, Oblivion, thus generating extra excitement in the exchange of ideas. The papers are presented in eleven sections, each of which is devoted to a different aspect of memory and oblivion, ranging from purely material aspects of preservation, to social phenomena with regard to art collecting, from the memory of the art historian to workshop practices, from art in antiquity, to the newest media, from Buddhist iconography to the Berlin Wall. The book addresses readers in the field of history, history of art and psychology.

Book Description
"A language carries a people's memories, whether they are recounted as individual reminiscences, as communal history, or as humorous tales. In 'Living our language', Anton Treuer has collected stories from ten Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) elders living on the Leech Lake, White Earth, Mille Lacs, Red Lake, and St. Croix Reservations, presenting their words here in the original Ojibwe with English translations on the facing page. Treuer introduces each elder, offering a brief biography and noting important details concerning dialect or themes; then he allows the stories to speak for themselves. Taken together, these stories offer the gift of a living language and the history of a people."--Page 4 of printed paper wrapper.

Book Description
In this wonderful celebration of all that is best about the world's greatest football league, talkSPORT has taken on the challenge of listing the 100 greatest Premiership legends. Featuring contributions from many of talkSPORT's presenters, including Alan Brazil, Stan Collymore and Andy Gray, the talkSPORT team has drawn up its definitive listing of Premiership stars. Of course, being talkSPORT, nothing is straightforward and the opinions are hotly debated. Some surprising names make into the list, while others are relegated to the bottom or even fail to appear at all. Who comes out on top: Gianfranco Zola or Alan Shearer? How do you decide who's in and who's out from 20 years of footballing genius? Each of the stars is fully profiled, with surprising and fascinating information revealed about all of them, and their individual ranking in the list is fully justified. In short, this book will not only provide great football memories of moments that won leagues, spared clubs from relegation, and drew stunned silence from watching crowds, but cause much controversy - just like talkSPORT itself.
