"Pandit Ko bhi Salam hai aur maulvi ko bhi, mazhab na chahiye mujhe imaan chahiye." – Akbar Allahabadi “Rafi Ahmed Kidwai: Bridging Region and Nation” is a political biography of a congressman from Uttar Pradesh to whom nothing mattered but Indian freedom. During pre-partitioned days when greatest of the Muslims queued to Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his Pakistan movement, he stood his guns with resolute firmness. He was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s closest colleague, India’s first communication Minister and was one of the two Muslims in the Nehru cabinet along with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He achieved miracles as Food and Agriculture Minister by his policy of food de-control. He was an administrative genius to the caliber of Sardar Patel, a nationalist Indian, and a humanist in truest term. This book is a product of extensive research on pre- partition Gandhian phase of UP congress vis-à-vis India as a whole. It will provide opportunity for the readers to peep inside the Congress organization in colonial era in the back drop of rising factionalism and communalism.

Book Description
Malnutrition-under nutrition and imbalanced nutrition-is a major health problem in developing and developed countries. The recent National Health Survey-2005-06 says "India loses 2-3 per cent of its GDP every year due to undernutrition among children in the age group of up to two years." According to the report "Nutrition in India" even among wealthy only about 7 percent children between 6 and 24 months receive adequate feeding, health care and environmental health. The FAO of the UN declared 2014 as year of family farming with the intention of making each family a farming unit to meet the nutritional requirement. The Indian National Science Academy focused on micronutrient security as priority for research and action. The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi released two policy papers related to organic farming and related approaches to make homesteads self sustainable. Being a sub-continent enjoying temperate, sub-tropical and tropical climate along with arid climate and a longer coastal eco-system India has the strength of biodiversity, traditional wisdom and adequate natural resources-soil, water and energy. "There is a horticultural remedy for every nutritional malady" says Prof. M.S. Swaminathan. Fruits, vegetables, spices and aromatic plants are the reservoirs of much needed fibre, vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, lipids, flavourants, odourants and essential phyto-chemicals. Horticulture for Nutrition Security carries 21 chapters authored by 43 well known scientists. Four preambles are added to get the most authoritative information on Nutrition Security. The book has a FOREWORD by Prof. V.L. Chopra, Former Member, Planning Commission (Science) GOI and Former Director General ICAR New Delhi. The book is devoted to Prof. M.S. Swaminathan, the Father of Green Revolution for his commitment to make India hunger free by 2030.

Book Description
Caught in the terrifying blood bath of the partition of India, a young boy flees the city of Lahore on one of the last trains to newly independent India. One of the few passengers to reach Delhi alive, he struggles to begin a new life. An Indian Navy advertisement inspires him to join the Navy. Amongst his many postings are a deputation to the Nigerian Navy, where he is witness to the Nigerian military coups, and to Jamnagar in Gujarat during the Indo Pak war of 1971. A Sailing Ship, a Girl in Love, and the Setting Sun: A Memoir is written from his daughter Neena’s perspective who sketches his life in pre-partition Lahore, his narrow escape to Delhi, his life in the Navy, and his marriage to Chanchal Khosla. As Commander Shivraj Krishan Sarin’s grandson wonders what his aging grandfather must have been like in his youth, the years unfold, and we read a story of love, loss, and fortitude.
