El presente documento aborda un caso de mejora continua en un sistema productivo real, utilizando la técnica SMED, que consiste en una sistemática que permite ahorrar tiempo en los cambios que se realizan en una línea de producción. Inicialmente, el proyecto presenta una descripción de la empresa, los principales productos que fabrica, las características del sistema productivo del que se compone, y la línea en la que se centrarán las mejoras. Se ha analizado todos los datos productivos de la línea de producción. Con ello, se ha podido observar y acotar las operaciones que representan un mayor tiempo utilizado y donde deben ser aplicadas acciones de mejora. Durante el análisis, también se han detectado las incidencias actuales de la línea de producción en la que se centra el estudio y los protocolos vigentes para su detección y tratamiento. Se detalla la propuesta de sistema de mejora, basada en la técnica SMED y su sistema de implementación real en la empresa. Finalmente se ha realizado un análisis comparativo para la evaluación de las propuestas de mejora implantadas en el procedimiento SMED. El proyecto incluye además un estudio de impacto medio ambiental. De los resultados del procedimiento SMED se deduce que los tiempos de preparación de la línea productiva se han reducido apreciativamente.
