M. on Thursday, April 18th. Members are requested to send to the Secretaries, at as early a date as practicable and before March 9, 1918, the titles of papers which they intend to present so that they may be announced in the preliminary programme which will be issued immediately after that date and which will give in detail the arrangements for the Meeting. It is understood that papers offered are original contributions which have not been theretofore presented. The Publication Committee, under the rules of the Society, will arrange for the immediate publication of the papers presented in either the Proceedings or the Transactions, as may be designated. In other words, the genera belonging to several tribes will agree with each other in similar characters of less value than the tribal characters. What I have just said regarding genera is equally true in respect to species. The form, color and sculpture in many instances are repeated in tribes which from their geographical distribution and method of life can not be supposed to have any immediate genetic derivation. Instances of this kind of resemblance will be mentioned both in the Introduction, and in the body of the memoir.
