Author: Paul Piquepé

Pages : 82
Book Description
Excerpt from Practical Treatise on Enamelling and Retouching in Photography Shake well before using. Pour a few draps on the glass; rub well with a lump of silver paper all over until quite dry; then with a wash-leather rub well, but not too hard, and in a few seconds the glass will be clean. This can be ascertained by breathing on it, when the portion moistened by the breath should be perfectly free from marks of any kind. This done, the plates may be stored for use in clean grooved boxes. Instead of the above solution, ammonia may be used. Pour a few drops on the plate, and rub well with a very fine cloth; afterwards, with a chamois leather, remove every trace of ammonia, and polish with a little alcohol. This last method is not quite so rapid as the other, but it has this advantage, that no particles of dust are left on the edges of the glass.
