L’objectif de ce mémoire était de rechercher l’existence d’un lien entre la présence d’une dysphonie dysfonctionnelle hyperkinétique chez un même sujet et d’éventuels troubles de l’équilibre. La question que l’on se posait était de savoir si l’utilisation forcée de la voix pouvait être associée à un déséquilibre morpho-fonctionnel de l’individu. Dans cette étude comparative, deux échantillons de 18 personnes, dont le critère de séparation est la présence d’une dysphonie par forçage vocal, ont enregistré leur voix grâce à un logiciel d’analyse objective. Elles se sont ensuite prêtées à un test d’équilibre sur une plate-forme de posturologie qui permet de tester les différentes entrées sensorielles de l’équilibration lors de séquences silencieuses ou phonatoires, en condition statique et dynamique. Nous avons corrélé les paramètres vocaux obtenus avec les signaux stabilométriques provenant du logiciel de la plate-forme d’équilibre. Les résultats obtenus ont été soumis à une étude statistique qui a révélé un lien étroit entre le forçage vocal et l’équilibre. Les sujets dysphoniques présentent de façon significative des performances d’équilibration inférieures à celles des sujets témoins. Plus précisément, une nette tendance à la dépendance visuelle est identifiée chez nos sujets dysphoniques puisque l’équilibre de ces derniers n’est maintenu qu’au prix d’un surcoût énergétique lors des séquences où l’information visuelle est absente ou altérée. Au-delà du travail sur la posture, la prise en compte de l’équilibre dans les rééducations d’un certain nombre de dysphonies pourrait améliorer le geste laryngé et empêcher les récidives. Nous utiliserions ainsi nos techniques orthophoniques sur une plate-forme dynamique comme des stimulations somesthésiques plus spécifiques de l’extrémité céphalique, agissant au point de départ des troubles de nos patients.

The Violence of Modernity turns to Charles Baudelaire, one of the most canonical figures of literary modernism, in order to reclaim an aesthetic legacy for ethical inquiry and historical critique. Works of modern literature are commonly theorized as symptomatic responses to the trauma of history. In a climate that tends to privilege crisis over critique, Debarati Sanyal argues that it is urgent to rethink literary experience in terms that recall its contestatory potential. Examining Baudelaire's poems afresh, she shifts the focus of critical attention toward an account of modernism as an active engagement with violence, specifically the violence of history in nineteenth-century France. Sanyal analyzes a literary current that uses the traditional hallmarks of modernism—irony, intertextuality, self-reflexivity, and formalism—to challenge the historical violence of modernity. Baudelaire and the committed ironists writing in his wake teach us how to read and resist the violence of history, and thereby to challenge the melancholy tenor of our contemporary "wound culture." In a series of provocative readings, Sanyal presents Baudelaire's poetry as an aesthetic form that contests historical violence through rhetorical strategies of complicity, counterviolence, and critique. The book develops a new account of Baudelaire's significance as a modernist by dislodging him both from his traditional status as a practitioner of "art for art's sake" and from his more recent incarnation as the poet of trauma. Following her extended analysis of Baudelaire's poetry, Sanyal in later chapters considers a number of authors influenced by his strategies—including Rachilde, Virginie Despentes, Albert Camus, and Jean-Paul Sartre—to examine the relevance of their interventions for our current climate of trauma and terror. The result is a study that underscores how Baudelaire's legacy continues to energize literary engagements with the violence of modernity.

How have we thought “the body”? How can we think it anew? The body of mortal creatures, the body politic, the body of letters and of laws, the “mystical body of Christ”—all these (and others) are incorporated in the word Corpus, the title and topic of Jean-Luc Nancy’s masterwork. Corpus is a work of literary force at once phenomenological, sociological, theological, and philosophical in its multiple orientations and approaches. In thirty-six brief sections, Nancy offers us at once an encyclopedia and a polemical program—reviewing classical takes on the “corpus” from Plato, Aristotle, and Saint Paul to Descartes, Hegel, Husserl, and Freud, while demonstrating that the mutations (technological, biological, and political) of our own culture have given rise to the need for a new understanding of the body.
