Book Description
Supply Chain Management has become companies' strategy to improve their competitiveness certainly. Fast changing of the world, both internally and externally, has forced some companies to make decision to relocate their facility or reassign their functions to various facilities. A lot of mathematical models have been used to do optimization on supply chain networks, whereas supply chain dynamics, such as production uncertainty, demand fluctuation and transportation instability, are not present in most of the mathematical models. On the other hand the complexity in evaluation of performance parameters, in the mathematical models, provides necessity for simulation study as a flexible model to evaluate such criteria readily. This research provides a systematic way to evaluate production distribution network performance with respect to some performance factors under ARENA simulation software. The main objective is to evaluate different networks based on the transportation time and transportation cost as performance factors.

Book Description
Supply Chain Management has become the primary competitive weapon in many industries. This thesis describes a model of intelligent supply chain networks that will improve information visibility and flow within the supply chain. In the proposed model, products will have the intelligence to direct themselves throughout the distribution network and will have the capability to be purchased and sold while in transit. The report gives an overview of the supporting technologies that make such a supply chain a reality. It is intended to provide a preliminary outlook at the various issues related to implementation and could be used for future research as a basis for building the infrastructure required for the new model. An effort has been made to provide a design structure for XML identification tags, which will be one of the most critical components of the system. In addition to that, this report will describe the results of a simulation analysis using a model of a hypothetical public logistics network covering the southeastern United States. The network consists of 36 nodes representing the public distribution centers and 59 arcs, which represents various interstate highways connecting them. The simulations help identify the critical parameters associated with the material flow through the network and provide an insight into the capacity requirement of the public distribution centers. The results of the simulations will be used as a benchmark for future research and development associated with building an actual negotiating agent model.

Book Description
Supply Chain Simulation allows readers to practice modeling and simulating a multi-level supply chain. The chapters are a combination of the practical and the theoretical, covering: knowledge of simulation methods and techniques, the conceptual framework of a typical supply chain, the main concepts of system dynamics, and a set of practice problems with their corresponding solutions. The problem set includes illustrations and graphs relating to the simulation results of the Vensim® program, the main code of which is also provided. The examples used are a valuable simulation tool that can be modified and extended according to user requirements. The objective of Supply Chain Simulation is to meet the demands of supply chain simulation or similar courses taught at the postgraduate level. The “what if” analysis recreates different simulation scenarios to improve the decision-making process in terms of supply chain performance, making the book useful not only for postgraduate students, but also for industrial practitioners.

Book Description
Supply Chain Management (SCM) has been widely researched in numerous application domains during the last decade. Despite the popularity of SCM research and applications, considerable confusion remains as to its meaning. There are several attempts made by researchers and practitioners to appropriately define SCM. Amidst fierce competition in all industries, SCM has gradually been embraced as a proven managerial approach to achieving sustainable profits and growth. This book "Supply Chain Management - Applications and Simulations" is comprised of twelve chapters and has been divided into four sections. Section I contains the introductory chapter that represents theory and evolution of Supply Chain Management. This chapter highlights chronological prospective of SCM in terms of time frame in different areas of manufacturing and service industries. Section II comprised five chapters those are related to strategic and tactical issues in SCM. Section III encompasses four chapters that are relevant to project and technology issues in Supply Chain. Section IV consists of two chapters which are pertinent to risk managements in supply chain.

Book Description
Management of logistics distribution networks is a challenging task. Decision-makers rely on logistics assistance systems that recommend actions to optimise the networks. These systems can be based on simheuristics to benefit from metaheuristics in exploring possible solutions and on simulation for modelling the networks. This book presents three approaches to recommend promising solutions to optimise the networks with fewer simulation runs. The first approach utilises information from the network to guide the search of metaheuristics. In this approach, domain-specific information is defined and assigned to actions. The metaheuristic algorithm utilises this domain-specific information to find more-promising solutions. The second approach is reducing the number of possible solutions by grouping actions with respect to their domain-specific attributes. Here, the smaller solution space decreases the number of required simulation runs. The last approach looks for equivalent solutions that cause the same changes in the network. This approach aims to skip unnecessary evaluations and, thus, simulation effort.

Book Description
The globalisation of supply chains and networks causes traders from all over the world to make transactions with each other. Many transactions are made in world markets where the price is the way in which supply and demand are brought together. Other transactions, however, are made between people who know each other and have business relationships, using the so-called network mode of organisation. These traders may be loyal to one another and consider the role of social variables like trust, embeddedness and culture in their choices. This balance between network and market modes of organisation is not yet fully understood and is addressed in this book. This book uses a new research method that is ideally suited to study complex supply networks with all of its different traders. Gaming simulation is an established method for training and policy evaluation, but its application as a both quantitative and qualitative research method is relatively new. Two gaming simulations, called the Trust and Tracing Game (to study trust and cheating) and the Mango Chain Game (to study bargaining power and revenue distribution) are applied to show empirical results of a generic supply network trading products with a hidden quality attribute and the mango supply network from Costa Rica. This book is of interest for two categories of readers. Those who may like to concentrate on the empirical results will be interested in the factors that determine the choice of a mode of organisation in supply networks. Those who are interested in the methodology may wish to use gaming simulation as a research tool in their own research.
