Book Description
Whether in the bar, the restaurant or with friends, I was regularly being asked to tell my stories about Percy, the African Gray parrot that I once had the pleasure to own. I was only too pleased to divulge my many humorous recollections of this intelligent little bird who was not only very clever but also devious, mischievous and sometimes destructive. To me he was always a loveable rogue. I found myself remembering other creatures, great and small, which I had encountered. More often than not, these memories are amusing now, although at the time may not have been so comical. The results being that there are many different accounts and experiences which I have been fortunate to have and are included in this book. These range from my encounters with budgerigars and other birds, to mice and elephants. There are some fishy tales as well!

Book Description
I call Zen the only living religion because it is not a religion, but only a religiousness. It has no dogma, it does not depend on any founder. It has no past; in fact it has nothing to teach you. It is the strangest thing that has happened in the whole history of mankind – strangest because it enjoys in emptiness, it blossoms in nothingness. It is fulfilled in innocence, in not knowing. It does not discriminate between the mundane and the sacred. For it, all that is, is sacred.

Book Description
Chance There are certain rules of friendship that are pretty much written in stone: 1. Don’t hit on your buddy’s girl 2. Back your buddy up when he gets into a bar fight 3. Bail your buddy out when he gets hauled in by the sheriff for ‘requisitioning’ a pair of goats Helping your buddy’s kid brother lose his virginity? …yeah, that’s not on the list. It starts as a simple favor. Now that he’s home from college, my best friend’s brother Tucker needs a place to stay and I happen to have a spare room. Then it becomes a confession. Tucker tells me he’s a virgin. And he’s on a mission to swipe that V card once and for all. Ultimately, it turns into a challenge. While Tucker searches for the perfect guy to pop his cherry, I find myself growing more and more agitated with the situation. I know why, of course. He’s my best friend’s brother, a kid I’ve watched grow up; it’s perfectly normal for me to want to protect him from all the assholes and users targeting him via his way-too-many dating apps. It has nothing to do with the strange way my stomach seems to flip at the sight of his smile, or that the sound of his voice somehow makes me tingly all over. Or that I can’t seem to stop thinking about what it would be like to run my hands over his body. Nothing at all… Come visit Finchley, CA, where the sun’s always shining, the locals are always gossiping, and you won’t walk two steps without bumping into a member of the Goode family. If you’re lucky, you might find gold; or, even better…true love.

Book Description
The house in Caulfield Place, off Browning Street in Walworth, was haunted, or at least that's what the street kids said. So when two men, a woman, and a parrot moved in, everyone was very interested, especially fourteen-year-old Cassie Ford, who was particularly fascinated by the parrot. And it was just about this time that Mr Finch, Chinese Lady's husband, and Boots's stepfather, began to get mysterious telephone calls. Mr Finch had never told the rest of the Adams family - except for Boots - the secrets of his past, or what kind of work he did for the government, and he decided not to tell them about the slightly sinister telephone calls either. It was when he took Chinese Lady on a summer's day jaunt in his Morris motorcar that things began to happen. For, in the Hog's Back Hotel, Chinese Lady went to the cloakroom, and when she came back Mr Finch had vanished. It took all of Boots's ingenuity to discover what had happened, and Cassie's knowledge of the Caulfield Place parrot was to prove a vital clue in unravelling the mystery.

Book Description
With estimates by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that over 60 million Americans are birdwatchers-it's the fastest growing outdoor hobby-books on birds have a ready audience. Allan Zullo's newest book, Amazing but True Bird Tales, documents nearly 200 outrageous shenanigans and surprising feats performed by our feathered friends. For example, the mockingbird who snuck into a conservatory evading the staff for two weeks while he dined on over $1,000 worth of rare butterflies. Or the very social chicken who received a lifetime achievement award from the ASPCA for her work with senior citizens and traumatized children. And the humorous account of the fractious parrot who constantly mimicked the sound of a circular saw. Drawn from factual accounts from the Audubon Society, news accounts from the United States and the United Kingdom, and numerous Web sites, each story further convinces us that these birds aren't birdbrains at all. Zullo's true tales will be irresistible to any birder whether it's the up-before-dawn-binoculars-in-hand fanatic to the person who occasionally throws out their morning toast to enjoy watching the birds gobble it up.
