Al mismo tiempo, la forma en la que se relacionan estas destrezas puede ser de gran ayuda también para que cualquier estudiante desarrolle un pensamiento profundo y crítico a lo largo de su formación. En la obra se lleva a cabo un tratamiento integrado de las habilidades en pensamiento crítico (PC) orientadas a la solución eficaz de problemas personales y profesionales. Para alcanzar esta meta, es necesario primar la explicación y la causalidad como ejes fundamentales de cualquier solución. Conjuntamente, este esfuerzo por alcanzar la eficacia obliga a vincular la reflexión con la acción. En esta unión, que se materializa esencialmente en el proceso de toma de decisiones, reside la clave de todo logro. Por eso, este modo de entender el pensamiento crítico considera que el cambio solo se produce desde la eficacia. Para ello, únicamente se trabaja con problemas reales, normalmente vivos o abiertos, con el fin de poder verificar que lo que se anticipa se va observando, que lo que se pronostica se cumple. El modo de proceder consiste en colocar como directores de orquesta la decisión y resolución, y coordinar los demás instrumentos al servicio del principal, que es la causalidad, con la que deben armonizar la deducción en particular y en especial, y la argumentación en general.
