Author: Veredigno Atienza
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1430314494
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 152
Book Description
A story of boys who went to school together from 1954 to 1971 at the Ateneo de Manila University. They are ADMU 198 (the sum of GS62, HS66, Coll70, and BSME71). Classmates who joined them for at least a year but graduated ahead, behind or not at all have also been included as part of ADMU 198. This is their composite autobiography, if there is such a genre. They contributed their respective recollections and impressions, and these were pooled together in what is hopefully a meaningful whole. I totally wash my hands of responsibility for anything libelous, scandalous, obscene, depraved, coarse, tasteless, irreverent, inane, opinionated, seditious or anything that is simply outrageous, and worth distancing one's self from. I was initially made editor or coordinator of this project under duress and in the absence of my own free will. I would have quit if only it was not so much fun to engage in such muck.

Reflections in the Marketplace
Author: Veredigno Atienza
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1411669282
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 143
Book Description
This book is a humble contribution to the marketplace movement, to the marketplace ministry, and to their equivalents. This work has a place in executive education programs, since it presents inner realities involved in leadership, management, entrepreneurship, business ethics, values formation, and the integration of career and family. It can help people, even if it is not structured as a self-help book. It is simply a real story of real people and the real story of a period of an ordinary businessman's life, and of the notions and nuances in his mind and in his heart as he tries to recover from the pits, something that nobody in this life is exempted from. If you are a businessman, a business entrepreneur, a social entrepreneur, a writer, a parent, a spouse, a son, a daughter, a brother, a sister, an in-law, a grandson, a granddaughter, a teacher, a student, or somebody's friend, I hope you will find a connection with this book.

Ethnicity and the American Short Story
Author: Julie Brown
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1134822227
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 273
Book Description
How do different ethnic groups approach the short story form? Do different groups develop culture-related themes? Do oral traditions within a particular culture shape the way in which written stories are told? Why does "the community" loom so large in ethnic stories? How do such traditional forms as African American slave narratives or the Chinese talk-story shape the modern short story? Which writers of color should be added to the canon? Why have some minority writers been ignored for such a long time? How does a person of color write for white publishers, editors, and readers? Each essay in this collection of original studies addresses these questions and other related concerns. It is common knowledge that most scholarly work on the short story has been on white writers: This collection is the first work to specifically focus on short story practice by ethnic minorities in America, ranging from African Americans to Native Americans, Chinese Americans to Hispanic Americans. The number of women writers discussed will be of particular interest to women studies and genre studies researchers, and the collections will be of vital interest to scholars working in American literature, narrative theory, and multicultural studies.

ISBN:
Category : Games & Activities
Languages : en
Pages : 301
Book Description
What Shall We Do Now? by Dorothy Canfield Fisher is an interesting collection of games for adults and children. Fisher's games are interesting in that they instill a sense of know-how in young children as preparation for the broader world. Excerpt: "In the following pages, which have something to say concerning most of the situations in which children find themselves, at home or in the country, out of doors or in, alone or in the company, a variety of answers will be found. No subject can be said to be exhausted, but the book is perhaps large enough.
