phosphorus (TP), water extractable P (Pw), and negatively correlated with organic matter (OM) content. The P fractionation study revealed that the dominant P pool fraction in these soils was Fe/Al bound P followed by Ca/Mg bound P. Although these organic soils can sorb and store P, the desorption study showed they can release P extensively, ranging from 13 to 29% of P desorbed within all farms. This research showed that Smax is higher with increased mineral content and extractable Fe was found to be a major factor influencing P sorption in the EAA soils investigated.
