Book Description
Successful control techniques and management practices for reduction of particulate phosphorus export must recognize the nature of the sources and their inherent characteristics. These characteristics are significantly different from those of upland systems, and require management practices that address the highly mobile, distributed nature of EAA particulate phosphorus. The subsequent documents in this series address transport characteristics of particulate phosphorus in the EAA and offer some options for control of sources and transport.

Book Description
Phosphorus sorption in these organic soils will be affected by increase in mineral matter content as a result of subsidence, though the limestone bedrock does not seem to affect soils' ability to sorb P currently.

Book Description
phosphorus (TP), water extractable P (Pw), and negatively correlated with organic matter (OM) content. The P fractionation study revealed that the dominant P pool fraction in these soils was Fe/Al bound P followed by Ca/Mg bound P. Although these organic soils can sorb and store P, the desorption study showed they can release P extensively, ranging from 13 to 29% of P desorbed within all farms. This research showed that Smax is higher with increased mineral content and extractable Fe was found to be a major factor influencing P sorption in the EAA soils investigated.
