O livro do profeta Daniel nos faz refletir que é possível manter-se íntegro diante dos olhos do Senhor em meio à depravação espiritual. Daniel, ainda jovem, foi capturado e levado para outro país, de cultura diferente, mas decidiu firmemente não se contaminar com tudo aquilo que o afastasse do Senhor. “E Daniel propôs no seu coração não se contaminar com a porção das iguarias do rei, nem com o vinho que ele bebia; portanto pediu ao chefe dos eunucos que lhe permitisse não se contaminar”1. Daniel colocou em prática tudo o que aprendeu com seus pais, que era viver uma vida piedosa, temente a Deus e por sua fidelidade o Senhor lhe agraciou com dons espirituais. “Quanto a estes quatro jovens, Deus lhes deu o conhecimento e a inteligência em todas as letras, e sabedoria; mas a Daniel deu entendimento em toda a visão e sonhos”2. O apóstolo Paulo, ao escrever aos Coríntios, faz uma ressalva muito importante em dizer: “Mas a manifestação do Espírito é dada a cada um, para o que for útil”3. Deus capacitou Daniel com o dom de interpretar sonhos e visões, e foi através desse dom que Deus o livrou da morte certa por causa do edito do rei em matar todos os sábios da Babilônia, pois não souberam interpretar o sonho do rei, porém Daniel, um homem devoto, orou ao Senhor que lhe concedeu a revelação, o qual o rei ficou maravilhado e o exaltou grandíssimamente, colocando-o como governador de toda a província da Babilônia. Teologicamente falando, o livro de Daniel está dividido em duas partes, sendo a primeira, do capítulo primeiro até ao sexto, que fala da parte histórica, e do sétimo até o décimo segundo falam de profecias sobre o fim dos tempos.
