Palynostratigraphy of Permian and Lower Triassic Rocks, Sverdrup Basin, Canadian Arctic Archipelago
Author: J. Utting
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 124
Book Description
Study to establish a palynological zonation that could be used to correlate Permian and Lower Triassic strata within the Sverdrup Basin. Nine outcrop sections were sampled, including all the type sections of the formations studied. Material was collected from both shallow and deep basinal facies to make palynological correlations across lithofacies boundaries. The ages of the three palynological zones established were based mainly on ages determined from marine macro and microfaunal groups, especially ammonoids, brachiopods, and conodonts. Palynostratigraphic comparisons were made with other parts of the world, including the Kazanian stratotype of Russia.

Paleopalynology
Author: Alfred Traverse
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1402056109
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 816
Book Description
This book provides complete coverage of all aspects of the study of all fossil palynomorphs yet studied. It is a profusely illustrated treatment. The book serves both as a student text and general reference work. Palynomorphs yield information about age, geological and biological environment, climate during deposition, and other significant factors about the enclosing rocks. Extant spores and pollen are treated first, preparing the student for more difficult work with fossil sporomorphs and other kinds of palynomorphs. An appendix describes laboratory methods. The glossary, bibliographies and index are useful tools for study of the literature.

Plants and Palynomorphs around the Permian-Triassic Boundary of South China
Author: Jianxin Yu
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9811914923
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 261
Book Description
This book documents timely and systematically marvelous fossils (plants and sporopollen) related to the biggest mass extinction of the Permian–Triassic transition. Numerous beautiful pictures and comprehensive records on the plants of this unique and critical interval of geohistory are presented in this book. It greatly contributes to understanding of the Permian–Triassic plant diversity and evolution. For geologists, it is important to understand the Permian–Triassic crisis, and for students, it is attractive to learn about the plants’ response to palaeoclimatic changes.

ISBN: 1786202824
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 459
Book Description
This volume brings together state-of-the-art reviews of the non-biostratigraphic and biostratigraphic data that are used to define and correlate Permian time intervals. It includes analyses of Permian radio-isotopic ages, magnetostratigraphy, isotope-based stratigraphy and timescale-relevant biostratigraphy. It is the first book devoted to this subject and represents the cutting edge of Permian time-scale research.
