Book Description
An experimental program for the measurement of the vertical ozone distribution was initiated by the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories in January 1963. A network of eleven ozonesonde stations was established in North America to provide high resolution observations of the vertical ozone distribution for a variety of research purposes. The resultant data are published in a series of reports. The first volume (AD-435 873) contained the ozonesonde and associated radiosonde observations for the months of December 1962 through March 1963. This second volume contains the ozonesonde and associated radiosonde observations for the months of April through August 1963. Also included in Volume 2 are the average distributions of ozone over the North American continent as derived from the network observations. Data averages for overlapping bimonthly periods are presented for January-February through July- August 1963.

Ozonesonde Observations, 1962-1966

Category : Atmospheric ozone
Languages : en
Pages : 340
Book Description
From 1962-1966, vertical distribution ozone measurements were made at 11 sites operated or supported by the Environmental Sciences Services Administration in the Western Hemisphere and in Antarctica. Observations made initially at several of the stations to provide information on instrument performance were followed by a major effort in data gathering during the International Quiet Sun Years (IQSY), 1964-1965. This first volume presents results, in the form of ozonagrams displaying ozone and temperature profiles, from the Western Hemisphere stations. Antarctic data will appear in Volume II. Supplementary data--coded values of ozone, temperature, and wind, applicable to standard and significant levels for all soundings--appear in O̲z̲o̲n̲e̲d̲̲a̲t̲a̲f̲̲o̲r̲t̲̲h̲e̲W̲̲o̲r̲l ̲d̲, published by the Meteorological Branch, Canadian Department of Transport. Computer tabulation sheets for IQSY Regener chemiluminescent ozonesonde data are available from the National Weather Records Center, Asheville, N.C.

Book Description
A network of 11 ozonesonde stations was established in North America to provide high resolution observations of the vertical ozone distribution for a variety of research purposes. The resultant data will be published in a series of volumes consisting of both graphical presentation of the ozone profiles and associated temperature and dew point profiles and a detailed tabulation of the ozone and radiosonde data. This first volume contains observations for the period January through March 1963 plus the results from a series of test flights conducted just prior to the start of the program. (Author).
