On-farm Irrigation System Evaluation
Author: Ron Mansfield
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : El Dorado Irrigation District (Calif.)
Languages : en
Pages : 222
Book Description
In this report we review the irrigation system evaluation study conducted by the El Dorado Irrigation District's (EID) Irrigation Management Service (IMS) during the summer of 1981. We conducted this study, following several years of crop irrigation research and six years of scheduling experience with the El Dorado IMS to better understand the operation of farm irrigation systems, the efficiency of these systems and the effect upon agricultural water conservation within the EID service area. Information gathered during this project documents the current on-farm situation with regard to irrigation system types, management practices, and operational efficiencies. This information is presently being used to teach farmers how to efficiently use and improve their irrigation systems and practices. We expect that once this information has been properly presented to farmers they will adopt the water budget approach to irrigation management.
